Cross forum posting and sale status.

I'm sure some of these "I'll take it" with PMed offers are deliberately trying to discourage other bids, so they get it when the seller has to lower his price.

Sometimes they are just klutzes. I just bid on a knife posted yesterday, buyer posted "I'll take it" yesterday, seller posted "Still available" today. (Never give up! :D)

I've seen that happen, even had it done to me. That's a good reason to always call Seconds on something you want if there's an I'll take it. I can't tell you how many knives I've gotten that someone else had already 'claimed'.

Sometimes you might be interested in offering on something, but if you see an "I'll take it", you assume it's sold and leave it alone. The person who posted that wants everyone to assume just that, so no one makes a better offer to the seller. When it was done to me, I immediately posted that it was still available to counter that tactic.
