Crucible Service Center Update

Maybe some price info might be useful here. The numbers are approximate since I didn't write them down and my memory sucks.

154CM, Half Sheet (24 x 36") 3/16" - about $9/lb
CPM-3V, Half Sheet (24 x 30") 0.170" - about $12/lb
A2, Precision Ground 3/16 x 2 x 36" - $26.75ea (I ordered this today, so I remembered it)

For reference Sheffield lists that piece of A2 at $65.89.

Half sheet of 3/16" CPM-3V weighs about 40 lb. On half sheets or sheets, they will do one or two cuts in any direction for free. After that, cuts are added into the per lb price and get expensive.

Note, CPM steels are sold in nominal sizes only, so if you order 3/16" it will be somewhere in the 0.160-0.0180" range.

I've talked with Bruce Di Vita in the Dallas office, 800-365-1168, and he has been great to deal with.

I think Crucible came to play this time...

I just finished grinding the three bars of 440V into things that look similar to knives and am sending them off to Paul Bos so they will in fact become knives, the finish on the steel was the best I have seen in years. this may not mean much to some of you, but I just got finished with some BG42 that i got for folder blades and had to grind until i thought my fingers were going to drop off just go get down to the bottom of the bark pits......It really save a lot of time and hard work when it looks like the stuff I just got!!!!

It really troubles me when Tom and I seem to be on the same side of something. There must be something wrong...
