Hey troops, I managed to get on the order board. I'm just curious about the 1yr to 18 month wait? Has anyone placed an order and received there knife a year later?
I wad told I'd be in the next batch which would start next week, and that it would be a couple of months after that? If any CF owners want to comment on the MT great, and maybe throw in some pics? Thanks. Any advice on payment? all up front? or half & half?

They are flexible on payment, just wondering what other customers have done in the past?

Everything you say is correct it will take over a year and sometimes payment is done a few month before the order is placed. For your sanity just order what you want from Kathy and try and forget about. They are very honest and customer friendly. I used to buy Striders but the customer service I feel is not great.

Bump.
I just ordered a VIS Metro Tac 4 and yes, it was ordered with a chisel ground blade.
I'm very excited about this folder as it will be my only over-the-top folder.

I'm coming up to a year for my VIS T, I contact them each month to stay in touch. Be prepared for a long wait. When I receive mine I'll comment on if it was worth it. If you decide to "bail" make that decision early as opposed to later, as later on it's not very cost effective. Good Luck

Thanks, mildot.
Crusader Forge's wait period reminds me of the wait time for my Hartsfield's.
Which blade shape are you getting?
The new Tac4 tanto blade is so bad.

I opted for the "standard" blade as pictured on there website, I'm a "lefty" and they accommodated me as well on that level.

I sent Kathy an email today, I'm 2 months away from the 1 year anniversary? maybe I'll hear something today? More to follow.

I hope you dunt have the 18 month wait.

I couldn't contemplate that, the last 10 months has been quite a haul. Funny thing is that "most" people who order end up selling there knives once they get them, I guess the 1 year 'cooling off" period really works.

All the Crusader owners I talked to, paid up front. I always heard good things about Crusader for the most part.

Wait, wait, does this also apply to a full on custom knife? I thought it was common practice to pay the full fee upfront for a custom knife?

If you're asking for a left-handed copper-edged automatic nose-hair trimmer, then perhaps the maker would ask for a deposit--because he surely won't recoup his investment if the buyer vanishes.

Otherwise, no.

I had a katana made to my (outsized) specs and (unusual) design and still paid only a small deposit up front.

Kathy was very kind and offered me some payment options. Maybe Kathy knows she can trust me. And, she can.
