One of these is not like the others in cost, but here are my truest of loves today (Sorry HarglBargl, you've been replaced with this handsome threesome) hehe:

Opinel No. 8 Folding Beechwood Stainless Steel Pocket Knife:

Love the No. 8. I'd probably pick Beechwood, you would too right? I think it's the classic choice? Example of what I mean: Red SAK.

Kershaw Leek:

That Orange Aluminum Handle tho.

Case Abalone Tear Drop Pocket Knife:

Why God, why does it have to be $200. :/ Yes, I require the abalone handle, haha.

Thoughts on my current obsessions? Constructive criticism welcome. ^_~

Also, good morning! :]

Morning :) Have a no8 and a leek. The no8 is super classic and really a useful little knife. Can't really beat it for $10. The leek is great. It is about the only assisted opening knife I will carry. I have a couple other assisted kershaws, but the leek destroys it. As far as case knives go, I'm not really a fan. But whatever floats your boat. For $200, I would probably grab a 0450CF and a couple opinels haha.

I love Abalone I had to get me one too but I paid less than $100 for an one so you don't need to spend $200 I am not sure why that one is that much but I would poke around to see who else makes something in Abalone and where else you might can find it.

Hi Goldenboy! :] I am actually really happy to get your opinion on the Leek! ^_^ I keep getting mixed reviews on it as far as it vs. other Kershaws go for EDC and just to use in general. Opinelllll = agree with everything you said and for the Case, honestly, I just like it aesthetically, and I know Case is good. But actually I've never dug further than "Case is good." Does anyone have any further opinions/facts on Case that might sway me to splurge $200? Lol

As I have slowly backed away from the obsessive knife thing in my senior citizen years, I find this combo to do 99.99999% of what I have to do as far as cutting jobs. Most my other knives have gone now, and I still like to look, but find few knives that are better daily companions. I keep an Opinel in the kitchen drawer one in the glove box of the truck, and a SAK in my pocket.

Oh shoot Charlie Mike, seriously? Does it crack or shatter easily? uh oh. I kind of love Abalone handles.

Yyyyyyup. I'd say they are more oriented to collectors over users.

You'll quickly find there are 2 camps here. Both are entirely valid. I'm part of the #useyourshit crowd. I've tried to buy art knives but I've always regretted having a couple thousand tied up in something I can only look at and carefully fondle.

Hats off to those who can :D

You sure are bubbly; like a freshly popped champagne.

I'm a Case fan and I like your abalone piece there.

Kirinite and concrete cracks too (albeit not as easy as seashells:D).

I'm a user person w/ limited exceptions and I have a Queen Abalone Tiny Toothpick and I haven't dropped it but from the feel of it I am not scared of that either. I did go digging for other abalone options and only 2 knives I found I would consider were both more than that Case. I found a Protech Cambria w/ Abalone inlay and was beautiful for ~$600 and the Lionsteel Opera with Mother of Pearl & Abalone w/ Damascus blade for ~$350. You might be better looking for a used knife to get some lovely abalone or really spend the money and get one of those two.

I have several traditionals with pearl shields set into their handles. If you NEED abalone in a knife you can safely use, might try scoping for something done like that.

I'm going to down a dose of confidence and then take this as a compliment, Phixt. ;]
