Crushing hard.

Maybe I'm just old, but what does the phrase "CRUSHING HARD" mean?

For those that want to derail the thread- I have some chiclets awaiting.. your choice
At least the last page of comments have nothing to do with the thread topic

I am crushing hard on the new BRKT Wilderness Explorer model. I just got one and I am itching to cut something with it. I was all about getting a 5" Kephart and BRKT has a 5" in a CPM steel.... Well, the Wilderness Explorer was released and it fit just about all of my criteria for an all around woods blade. I like the guard and I really like a sabre shaped general purpose woods knife at about 5.5". This one is 5.75" (blade).... a tad long, but I was crushed. Now I don't really want another Kephart design. That's my story and I'm going to stick with it.... :D This is my first Cru Wear knife and C-tek... killed two birds at once.

Opinel, agreed. Everyone should try one. Much more knife than the purchase price would lead you to believe.
Leek, not my favorite Onion design. I like a blade with a little more belly. I carried a Kershaw Scallion for years. But that's me.
Check out the Kershaw Skyline, too.
Abalone? Beautiful. As HnS said, check out Rough Rider if you are on a budget.

I enjoy the Leek for light cutting, the tip on the 14c28n is thinner than on the 154cpm version. Opinel is just flat out amazing slicing tools. Traditional knives bring out memories of our youth and are also quite attractive. Can’t go wrong with any of these!

sigh ... Postimage.org just got locked...there goes all my pics.

I have ALMOST purchased an Opinel #8 more times than I have fingers at the one knife store that carries them. I pick them up, fondle them.... and then decide with my other purchases that I don't really want to spend the money. (Priority thing.) I do the same thing with Mora's. But I own three Mora's.

Yes to the Rough Rider slippies if one grabs your interest. They are quite the value overall. The ones I have purchased have all been pretty well put together.

One of these is not like the others in cost, but here are my truest of loves today (Sorry HarglBargl, you've been replaced with this handsome threesome) hehe:

Opinel No. 8 Folding Beechwood Stainless Steel Pocket Knife:
Love the No. 8. I'd probably pick Beechwood, you would too right? I think it's the classic choice? Example of what I mean: Red SAK.

Kershaw Leek:
That Orange Aluminum Handle tho.

&

Case Abalone Tear Drop Pocket Knife:
Why God, why does it have to be $200. :/ Yes, I require the abalone handle, haha.

Thoughts on my current obsessions? Constructive criticism welcome. ^_~

Also, good morning! :]

I dig your choices!

I was given an Opinel No. 7 in beech by one of my professors years ago and it's become one of my prized possessions... I really like it. I would suggest trying to find a place that has the Opinel's in stock so you can hold one in your hand. I have small hands and the Opinel No. 8 is nowhere near as comfortable as the Opinel No. 7 in my hand. The 7 just seems like it was made for me. Another thing about the Opinel is that it's the perfect knife to make "your own". I can't think of any knife that is begging to be customized more than the Opinel. I actually just picked up some sandpaper and tung oil and plan on modding my Opinel to fit my hand even better soon (thought about staining/rit dying it but beech doesn't seem to hold color like I'd prefer). :)

Regarding the Leek... I LOVE Leeks. I have two right now (ok technically one because I gave one to my fiance) and have plans to buy at least two more (the Composite and another regular). One thing to keep in mind is that the Leeks with scales other than steel or titanium are liner locks instead of frame locks. The liner lock Leeks (like the orange one) are a little bit thicker than the standard frame lock Leek. After owning both styles, I've found I like the frame lock style a bit more (thus the reason I'll be buying another).

No feedback on the Case, other than it's beautiful!

Ohhh, I meant to say this in my last post. If you like the Kershaw Leek... You should check out the Dividend and the Link! They're kind of regarded as the spiritual successors to the Leek.
