Alright ladies and gents, there will be another CT gathering in CT coming up in September, the weekend of the 12-14. We will be gathering on a small island in the Farmington River behind Main Stream Canoe and Kayak in West Hartford.

The address for the business so that you can find it is;
170 Main Street, Route 44
New Hartford, CT 06057

Here is a map I took from mapquest:

Everyone is invited, but minors of 16 and 17 need a parental release form and a medical release form for the event of emergencies. Under 16 need a legal gaurdian.

Parents, you may bring your children if you see fit, but keep in mind that we are going to be crashing around in the woods all day and we will be right around the water alot, and unless they are older and more mature/able, I would suggest that leaving them home might be better. Ultimately, its up to you though.

Some skills that I think we could focus on for this gathering are shelter and fishing. Also, perhaps we could try building some emergency water vehicles. In early september, we should have some nice fresh leaves on the ground for debris huts and other things, so it will be fun to try those. This is also a good chance to bring your BOB for a test run.

As usual, "trade blankets" are more than welcome. Bring any and all gear you want to trade or sell, or things to just show off.

Please RSVP here and also email ctgathering2 @ rocketmail.com. That will give me your email so that I can email everyone updates and other important info.

As far as sleeping and food arrangements, I was thinking that it would be mostly individual, but everyone is welcome to bring extra to share around.

Also, a big thanks to the new mod here Kevin Estela for getting the land for us for free, and for being such a standup guy.:thumbup:

a question for Kevin though;
how will we be getting over to the island? I have seen large floating platforms at another island to get camping gear across, but I don't know if that is standard. Will we be swimming across?

I think Kev mentioned there was a low water point of about 2 feet, so wading it be.

i'll bring my hot blue silk doorag and something that strongly resembles a small cutlass (an antique 11" butcher knife, also my kindling splitter)

you think the kayakers going by will get worried? ;)
