So what exactly constitutes a "peanut" knife. Does it have to be a Case Peanut or a knife shaped the same? How about the Great Eastern Cutlery beagle which is similar but a bit fatter? How about the tiny Schrade 3 blade micro Stockman pattern knives? just wondering if there is a set definition or just anything less than 3" or so. I am finding these tiny knives very handy for my EDC and just wondering what else is included in the "Cult"

It is mainly the Case Peanut and all of his related cousins!

My modest Peanut collection. Schrade Walden "Everlastingly Sharp" in brown jigged bone, Case Rough Bone SS 2002, and a Case Bare End Stag SS 2009. Blades have oil on them but are mirror polished when clean. Razor sharp, with nice pointed tips (I have seen so many reviews of case knocking the rounded tips). I also have two tiny Great Eastern Peanut "cousins", a Coyote in Osage Orange and a Beagle in Runaway Acrylic. Really liking these tiny knives. Still like to have both the Case brown and Red bone knives in CV steel to be real users.IMG_4705.JPG IMG_4704.JPG

Happy New Year to all!!!

Yes indeed it has, from slicing my morning bagel or muffin, opening the daily mail and packages, cutting down boxes, opening feed bags, etc.

I oil the joint about every 6-8 weeks or so, sharpen it on an Arkansas stone as needed and that’s it. I’ve carried it for almost 4 years now (about 90% of the time). It’s been either exclusive or one of two traditionals in my pockets. At night it’s on the nightstand beside my bed and immediately drops into my pocket upon waking up.

I love the retro look and smooth feel of the yellow Delrin scales also. It’s a wonderful and faithful companion :)

That peanut is actually improving with age!!!

Great well formed patina, and an aura of a much carried old friend. As it should be.

"Peanut" is another knife pattern such as stockman or Barlow. It's not proprietary to Case.

Just got this TrapperNut in today. I wasn't sure how to feel about a small spey blade, but its easily pinchable and I like that I can open it with my right hand.
Besides, I just really wanted a blue peanut and this one just happened to have a spey :D
It likely won't boot old yeller from my pocket, but I'll carry it for a while to see how we get on together.

Hmm interesting, i've never seen a peanut with a speyblade.

The Peanut does far more than all of my other knives. I carry it daily and it has been a total performer. Easy to sharpen and maintain. What more could you ask for? It cuts way above its size. One of the best presents I've ever been given.
