Well...the big day finally came and chaos has ensued so I havnt had time to lurk around here and update BUT...

Lukes Peanut.jpg

...our first born made it to the world safe and sound and, true to my word, his future Peanut has been in my pocket ever since. I got lucky actually, I put it in my jacket pocket, box and all a couple days earlier juuuuust in case and because of that I was able to have it with me while he was being born. Being my first Peanut and my first smaller knife, I wasnt overly sure how I would like it but its been the only knife in my pocket since we got home. I usually carry two knives but this little guy is light, compact and does the job so far. I can see why so many people are fond of the design and the only way I woulda known is from using it these past few days. All the boxes, bags, tags etc coming in for him have been a wonderful workout for the little knife and it has done marvelous. Anyways, heres to hoping the little knife makes it long enough for me to hand it over to him when he is old enough to care and appreciate it like planned!

Congratulations! It's an incredible experience (the baby, not the peanut... well, not as much the peanut), hope you enjoy it all!

Matt, congratulations on the birth of your child. You're starting out on one of the biggest adventures life can give you. This little person will develop into their own distinct individual before your eyes and it will be amazing!!! Good luck!!!!

And good luck with the peanut. If you are not careful, it will take over your pocket and teach you many lessons. The most lesson will be the constant amazement of it doing most all of you need from it. The more you use a peanut, the more you will see the truth of the statement; "Less is more."

He's only been with us a handful of days and is nothing less than the most amazing thing to ever happen to us. A true blessing. Thanks for all the kind words, I cannot wait nor imagine all the adventures that the two of us have ahead of us and I hope the little Peanut will be a part of all of them!!!

Matt, the adventure has not even begun yet. But as a long term dad and grandad I want to give you some pointers that you can write down or not, as you wish. I learned about being a dad from the experience of growing up with my dad, and my granddad.

1.Never yell or argue with your kid. Just makes things worse.
2. Watch and re-watch the old Andy Griffith show. Andy knew a thing or two about parenting. Kids are way smarter than we think, and if we just show them a way, they will go there without much problems.
3. When he screws up as a teenager, don't loose it, even though you may feel like it. Be calm, and ask him what he thought was going to happen when he did that.

I think I had the calmest dad while growing, and he never ever seemed to loose his temper. It was like growing up with Sheriff Andy Taylor as my dad. As a result, I always felt I could come and ask him darn near anything. As a result, I avoided some major problems that seemed to befall some of my friends. Even when we disagreed about something, it was in a civilized manner, and I learned smooch from the experience. The values he grows up with will come right from you, so never skimp on the time you spend with him. And talk with him. But harsh words are like bullets from a gun, they do the damage and cannot be recalled once said. Speak slow and pick your words carefully.

Your child is a crop. How it will grow is directly affected by how much it is cared for, fertilized, keep weeds away, spray for insects. Protect, but still give it room to grow. And let him see that peanut being used on lots of fishing trips, camping trips, and around the house in a good way. Buy another duplicate peanut right now and sock it away, and when the time is right, gift him his own peanut to make memories with of his own.

Good luck bud!!!!!

Congrats on your first born! My daughter is almost 11 months now and have to say that the time goes fast! Relish every moment and enjoy all the many adventures that are to come, its a beautiful experience

Congrats. Kids are such a blessing. You have been given some great advice. All I can say is love that child. I can tell you already do.
Congrats on the peanut. It will serve you well. Mine sure has. It was a gift from my kids and everytime I reach in my pocket for it it brings me joy.

I picked this up a couple days ago... making the Peanut the first knife that I have more than one of. I "needed" one in stainless, and this one just called my name. It's the bermuda green. The pics don't quite do it justice.

That is a beautiful green color on it:thumbsup:

Guys...I can't thank you all enough for the kind words and support/tips! I too grew up with a fantastic father and grandfather figure (as well as a not so good version of both) and it is just as y'all say, I strive to be like my heros and hope to be the same to little Luke. The adventures that like ahead are overwhelmingly exciting but I'm pumping the brakes so as to not miss out on this chapter in our lives together.

The little Peanut is still alone in my pocket in order for us to grow closer together. Wrapping gifts, opening packages/removing tags, small snack prep and even some leather work and it still hasn't been overwhelmed. I almost washed it the other day and my wife shook it out of my jeans and brought it to me asking "isn't this Luke's knife?" Ha! She's doesn't care bout knives but already knows the idea behind this little guy. Anyways, back to it! Thanks again all, hope you all have a wonderfully blessed Christmas!!!!

Merry Christmas to all you cult members.
It has been exactly a year since I got my brown peanut as a gift from my kids. It has been in my pocket everyday since. It has amazed me and has truly became my precious. Today he got a new friend. A recruit. With these two I feel I have all I need to tackle any task. Hope everyone has a very merry Christmas.

Excellent SAK, Mike. The recruit is the epitome of the down to earth SAK that is a great bang per ounce. But I suggest that you keep the SAK and the peanut in opposite pockets for a time. The mighty Legume's tend to be territorial little beasts, and there may be trouble if they are in too closer a contact.

For the carrying of the 'nut with other knives, see the Care and Feeding Manual of The Cult, chapter 5, page 89, paragraph two.

The mighty yella peanut has been a wonderful Christmas companion today, helped sort through a veritable mountain of presents and packaging, ribbons and twine, tape and those little plastic tabs they use to afix tags to clothing. Even helped slice a bit of ham.

I sometimes have a hard time gripping the smooth delrin, so just placed an order for a blue jigged bone Trapper Nut. Been listing after a blue peanut for a while so I can't wait for its arrival :D

Lol. Your right. The peanut tends to get a little jealous. I have kept them separated.
I agree on the recruit. It's small and handy. Just the right tools for most tasks one might face. I had a cadet but lost it I couple years back. It was good also. Neither take up much room. And with a classic on my keys I still get the scissors. ;)
P.S. Merry Christmas Carl J jackknife
