Cult of the Texas Jack; why should the peaNUTS get all the glory

2012-05-05_close.jpg

What is the model number on that if you do not mind. I love the matchstrike pull and only normally see it on stockmans not jacks.

hmmm the Peanut clan has hijacked this thread by expanding membership to non-peanuts.. I call dilution! You Pemby guys need to go back to your own cult..

otherwise the Texas Jack clan will soon include Charlows, Bokers and other factions.. I say stay pure, a coalition is not a cult :-)

Could all of the Texas Jack Fans tell me about the recent variations offered in the last 5 years? I know of the current amber bone CV, and Stag version as well as stainless versions in green apple with pinched bolsters, lime green, and saw cut green clover. Am I am missing any for someone starting a small collection?

Thanks,

You also have the 6232 in sunset winterbottom bone (stainless) and the last select line featured a 6232 in brick red winterbottom (stainless).

Im not aware of any others in the last few years.

JustinR, I posted a picture of this knife in the Colonial Knife sub-forum on AAPK back in OCT 2012. Bobby Paolantonio, formerly of Colonial Knife Company, the builder of their R.A.P. Cutler high-end line, and of Heritage Cutlers...he had this to say about my knife (which is everything I know about it). It is a fine quality pocketknife.;

"Old Hunter is our next contestant with a nice #532, 2-blade Old Cutler! This was our winner for the future and my design of choice because of the quality! 1095 carbon steel; in .095 thickness! Solid brass liners are .032 thickness, cut scale near the sheepfoot and spey blades were .025, but the center brass cut scale was .050!! Nice, thick and strong. Solid N.S. bolster's and a one of the best quality knives of the last 20 years of Colonial's existence. I used these parts to make custom factory knives with M.O.P., Mammoth Ivory, all kinds of wood, smooth bone, jigged bone and even some pieced together Abalone Pearl. The Barlow Old Cutler was equally built well, and I made many of these also!"

Thanks for the info. I have an old cutler barlow that is a fine knife...hadnt seen the jack.

I just picked up another poor, abused stray. There's no model number on the blade that I can see- is it a Texas Jack? At any rate, I'm going to give it a nice cleaning and oil soak, and see if I can bring some life back to the bone.

How about the CV Texas Jack models? How many other choices besides the amber bone?

r8shell I am no expert but that looks like one of the smaller serpentine jack patterns.

Other than the amber bone im not aware of any other 6232 knives in CV. There are other serpentine jack patterns (older) in CV and the big 6292 comes in CV but I do not believe there have been any recemt production of the 6292.

I believe you have a model 6244 red bone there.....just very slightly smaller than the 32 pattern and with a very slightly differently shaped frame....equally useful in terms of small to medium sized jacks of all pattrrns.... :->

Of course the Pemberton's are welcome. We just think of them as cousins that are a bit on the stocky side.:o

But family is still family, red headed or not.:D

Carl, Grand High Muckba of the little family cult.

Jonathan,

Carl is the Pontiff of the Peanut Cult... I know I'll not question his blessing of us Pembernut carriers!

Actually I do want to motion that we take this out of RSmith_77's thread as we kind of lost track of what the original topic was in the midst of our banter here - Sorry RSmith_77!! The Texas Jack looks like a nice size and I like that configuration and I can see definitely see a following for it! I may be looking more closely into the TJ :)

Heh, Heh, Heh...
Both sides can play at that game.

I don't have a Case Texas Jack
I do have a Queen Serpentine Jack with jigged cherry Delrin covers and D2 blades. Little devil finds its way into my pocket reasonably frequently...
