Oh man me too! I'm going to have to pull something out of the freezer for dinner now!!

Guy, the first skillet full of backstraps, that's how my family always prepared it, and I do love it just rolled in flour with salt and pepper. We've been doing a lot more grilling in recent years and I've started leaving it in larger sections and doing like your pictures show. The best meal I ever had was a filet out of a bull elk, left whole and basted with worchestershire, salt and pepper, and grilled. Perfection :)
 
Man, you guys are killing me. I haven't been able to get after whitetail since 2013, for various reasons. And all this talk about that HG55 makes me think I missed out by not getting one of the small Busse or Swamprat blades when I could. Or even Scrapyard. But a satin INFI hunting knife would be awesome. Too bad I came too late to the game.
 
yep the shoulder! I love roasting a whole front shoulder or what I can fit in a my Lg dutch oven.
 
It was unseasonably warm here today and the deer just weren't moving but I got to snap a picture of some of my favorite gear.

You have good taste. I have a loggerhead in the exact same color as you. Its a great tool.

Had my NorthStar with me on friday. Only pic I snapped. Big doe. In the freezer. Been a good season for me this year. That HG-55 is purity! So is its companions! What caliber is that Marlin in? 45-70?
 
Not keeping the hide but I'm having the skull bleached and mounted on a plank of wood with the jaws open to go on my office desk
 
Loving it. Very interested in the Loggerhead. Best piece of deer meat I ever had was on Christmas day in WV, where I grew up. Buddy and I were out walking around, it's snowing with a few inches already down. We see a doe with two or three little ones. I hear my buddies safety click off. Then back on. I think he made the right decision. We headed back and he fried up some deer meat out of the fridge in a cast iron skillet with onions, salt, and pepper. YUM!!

p.s. Nemesis, where are you in SOVA? I grew up in Mcdowell Co, WVA. Got lots of family in the area and an Aunt and Uncle in Bastian VA.
