Cuomo Sides with NYC Pols - Gives Finger to the People

These idiots can pass all of the self-serving laws they want; it doesn't mean "We The People," have to follow them.

uh, what?

I'm all for reasonable regulation of weapons, (I know some of you may disagree with that position, and that's fine) but when regulations are used to target a particular demographic for over enforcement and subsequent punishment, something's gotta give- that ain't right.

Following laws is part of the social contract, but when we see laws created and applied that fundamentally affect targeted citizen's pursuit of life, liberty and happiness due to factors outside their control, those laws must be challenged in court and changed at their root.

To suggest simply breaking the laws you don't like because you don't like them is antithetical to the whole point of civilized society, and is really not a particularly helpful suggestion to make in the context of this thread. It's spitting in the face of the Knife Rights cause, from where I sit.

Way to go, Doug. Knife Rights is an important advocate, and I hope that you continue to make a difference, despite unfortunate setbacks such as this in NY

Just a bump in the road, Doug. Keep fighting the good fight. I believe freedom will prevail in the end.

Keep up the fight! I was looking forwards to this bill passing and thought it was a slam dunk.

big surprise there. Cuomo's "commitment to criminal justice reform" means releasing violent criminals who do not deserve a second chance, and commuting sentences for cop-killers so they can have insta-parole. All the while, disarming the law abiding new yorkers, whether it be knife or firearm. This was lost before it got off the ground. Don't expect the ny congress to do anything about it either.

Exactly. ^^^^^^^ Cuomo hung us with his BS Safe Act. Do you really think he would push through a positive/sensible knife law that would benefit us? Any and all knife crime that would happen in NY would point right back to him. He'd get the blame. Pushing this through would not advance his political agenda on any level.

Quite unfortunate to hear. Thank you Knife Rights for keeping with the struggle and hopefully it will one day be fixed for all us law abiding NY'ers.

This.

Other discussion belongs elsewhere.

There are 4 Universal Laws/Commandments to live by if you want to survive under any government/authority that controls your life!!!!!

UNIVERSAL LAWS:
1. Don't Trust Them - They will always betray & screw you over.
2. Don't Believe Them - They will always lie, cheat, steal & kill you to get what they want.
3. Don't Beg Them for Anything - They will always take more from you then they will give you.
4. Expect No Mercy from Them - They will show you no mercy, you are just another replaceable cog in the giant uncaring machine that will always protect itself.

Cuome just confirmed truth of all 4 Universal Laws.
You Trusted him to do right thing, you Believed his "Justice Reform" propaganda, you Begged him for basic human rights, and you received No Mercy in return.
Congratulations, here ends your lesson!

One warning given.
I'd rather not shut this thread down.
Post support for Mr. Ritter and his team.
Do not post political clap trap.

Not surprised. This state takes and takes but gives back nothing. We are truly subjects here and not citizens.

ETA: Thanks to Mr Ritter all the same. There's still fight in us!

I'm fortunate to live in an area that allows me to carry any knife I see fit, so it's easy to forget sometimes that isn't the case in a lot of places. I'm sorry to hear about this setback for knife lovers in New York. I applaud your efforts and wish you all the luck going forward. It's worth fighting for. Hopefully soon more people will be able to make their own decisions on what knife they want to put in their pocket.

I enjoy visiting NYC from time to time.

Looks like I'll be carrying a SAK if I do, though.

Keep fighting the good fight.

Thanks for the effort, brother.

See you in a couple weeks.

Best Regards,

I knew this was coming. Not the least bit surprised.

Time for every knife owner to pull out of NYC, mark it as unsafe for travel and avoid it like the plague.

For something as basic as carrying a knife, this just needs to change. In particular the wrist flick judgement by police needs to change ASAP. Nobody needs to leave NYC over this unless that is in your plan.

I had high hopes for this as This bill was bipartisan and supported by many groups across many spectrums. This just goes to show with a little pressure maybe knife rights can push this through.
This seems to be the furthest that any knife law has made it so far- keep up the amazing work!
