As one researcher to another, I was curious to what exactly and how you are researching Mr. Clifton. I can say that for myself my research is dedicated to Moro weaponry, and while I would love to have an extended collection of pieces to study first hand, I have found in reality it isnt necessary and that my pocket book wont allow. So why the need for all the Ks

Hi Federico,

While I can apperciate that everyone is limited by their pocketbook, it has been my experience that researches generally want to see and experience the broadest possible range of items. It is very hard to draw good conclusions from a few examples. If someone tell me that their grandfather had used a particular khukuri during the First World War, that is interesting information, but if I find other very similar examples and the owners of these examples also have stories that tie them to that war, then the information becomes that much more solid, and we can begin to draw valid conclusions.

BTW, I don't know, and I am not sure I want to know (especially on a full stomach), what Mr. C has been researching. :)

I think you're opening a very large can of worms. :) I'm just going to sit back and watch this one.

In speaking on the terms of not accumalating numerous pieces I mean amassing a personal collection of hundreds of actual items. What I have found more helpful is to look over old period photographs, do interviews, find period texts, etc... A whole lot cheaper than trying to buy a whole bunch of different items. I have my own sample pieces, and am still looking for more, but I do not intend in creating a collection that surpasses my own personal and practical desires and needs (aka. collections sizing in the thousands of pieces). It is still useful to look at pieces in person, but I found generally there is a limit as to how much one can learn from amassing a personal collection.

Mr. Clifton collects converts to his particular (and peculiar) strain of HIKV. THAT is the "only one or two" he refers to. He has many, many, many Khukuris, as these zomb...er..converts are required to turn over their "one or two" khuks in return for a long white lab coat (their cult garment) and a blank stare. They are put on a regimen of gruel and cave-water, and told repeatedly "Your knives have been returned". "Kindly" is a relative term, as he allows them to have salt in their gruel once a week. "Old" speaks for itself. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you donate knives to his foundation. Your humidity problems this summer are a drop in the bucket compared to those in his cave. Florida caves are mostly under water.

Now that's gotta be the Absolute Best one I've ever heard!!!!
I'm really surprised that one of the old pix postin' HIKV Fellow Sufferers hadn't thought of that one before!!!! (Oops maybe they did and it's lost somewheres in the Khukura Thread.:D)

Uncle Bill's statement describes the Old Advanced Saintless Self Described "Researcher To A Tee!!!!!  :D

As to what the Yonegi "researcher" is supposed to be researching "That" could only be figured out with years of real Scientific Research and then after he's inducted into purgatory Many, Many More Years of real Scientific Research on what's left of the organ that is supposed to be a brain.

  :p :D

And don't let Tsimi con you Federico. He Really Does HAVE more khukuris than me, N2S, Berk and maybe a few other collectors, but many, many more Less than John Powell.
That's what makes Tsimi so sick when John is gracious enough to share some more pix of his collection with us.;)
