Current CASE XX quality?

We have 4 Ace Hardware stores near me and all have those little display cases just for Case knives. They are stand upright display cases and they will put them just any old place in the store at random. Tractor Supply has a display case by their counter.

At the local Ace here in town their display has Case ,Victorinox , B&S , and a few classic US Gerber's models In front, then Gerber and Leatherman MT's on the back.

That's how it is most Hardware stores around here, I've never seen one yet with a display dedicated to just case knives.

Well here in south Texas I have seen many display cases dedicated only to Case knives, including Ace Hardware stores. The local Tractor Supply stores have cases with different brands, though. My favorite local place is a pharmacy/gun shop/shooting range, which has a large, four-sided display case ONLY for Case knives. Depends where you live, I guess.

In that " Case " I feel special..;)

I just bought the orange peanut, it was the only one and there wasn't even a box but I bought it anyways without checking it out much.
If you buy online you don't get to pick the best one right , so I figured I'd just go for it and see what I get.
It's got great W&T with half stops which I didn't expect, F&F i'd give a 99.
The only issue I have is that the blades don't open perfectly parallel , that is to say they're angled downward just a little which I'm not huge on, but this is actually something I can fix fairly well if it really bothers me.

This is the biggest issue I've ever had with a Case knife, and it's a minor thing that I've seen In a lot of knives.

Opps,After many Case knives,I finally ended up with one I am not happy with.Got it today, in the mail. I wanted the Medium Stockman with the round ends in Dark Red Bone and in CV blade steel Item Number #06995. It feels kind of tiny compared to my other Case Medium Stockman with the squared off ends. I was thinking they'd be the same size. First off,it isn't dark red but rather a light redish orange and even yellow around the edges. The blades seem almost paper thin compared to my other Stockmans and if the pull was any softer, I think the blades would almost fall open under their own light weight. Oh and the spay blade and the pen blade ,point downhill quite a bit when fully open. Good thing they are thin.Had I seen this one in the store, it would have stayed in the store. I think my older cousin ( 82 ) will like this for a gift since he has arthritis in his hands so the light pull will be a plus for him. Here's the knife that makes me wonder.

One of the MANY things I miss about Texas. In a rural area outside of Corpus we had three feed stores on the same street that carried a variety of Case, Moore Maker and fancier stag fixed blades by local makers. My first Sodbuster came from Tractor Supply. I still kick myself for not getting a bunch of those Queen made Moore Makers.

Okay so a new one just landed. Pics aren't the best but wanted to catch the natural light while I could.

I know in this one it looks like scratches at the tip of the head bolster but it was just something superficial. Didn't even notice until I was uploading the picture. A wipe with my t-shirt and it's gone.

This one is excellent! The pivot is a touch gritty but that's not uncommon and some hot water and WD40 will fix it right up. Seams are all smooth, pins are just fine, and lock-up is strong. Anymore, I generally don't pay much attention to the factory edge of any knife as I always sharpen them myself but I was mindful of this one. The tip is a tiny bit rounded but the edge is pretty even and, although grabby, it will shave arm hair. Knife could use a little washing but overall I'm most definitely fifty-five dollars and more pleased!

I've never met her, but way across the country is a Linda B. in Lebanon MO that just keeps sending me fine examples of Case knives. ;)

You should drive up here. The feed store has a great selection of Case, Boker, and Moore Maker. That's where I got 4 of my MM, including the horn handled Trapper ;).

Edit: Oh, and the smooth antique bone Trapper as well. And my whiskey bone CV Tribal. And... ha ha ha.

All this Case talk - there is a Case Platinum dealer just off I-95 and north of Smithfield. They must stock 10,000 knives, I haven’t been there in months, but going to stop in today and have a look. OH

I have been to a Platinum Dealer once. Oh, what an experience! I highly recommend it for any Case fan. That's where I found my 2013 Select Wharncliffe mini trapper, which is my favorite knife. Hope I can get back there some day.

I just bought this 2017 built Case Tribal Lock a couple weeks ago, and the quality is awesome for a factory production knife. Smooth action, solid lockup, centered blade, excellent F&F, no gaps, even blade grinds, beautifully dyed bone with flush or domed pins. It did take about 6 or 7 strokes per side to remove a slight wire edge (common for Tru-Sharp), which then made it a razor. Bought off the net, sight unseen.

I think that is the most uniform blue I have ever seen. Blue dye must be difficult to do well or to get to penetrate into the bone. There seems to always be a least a little bit of white showing somewhere. I don't mind that, but it's really extra nice when you see it as well done as yours is.

I like how your lock is flush in the close position. I have 3 and only one of them is flush when closed. I bought that one in person in Titusville a couple of years back. The others came from dealers on the web.
