I believe it is ok for me to do this here, as this is offering a giveaway, not doing business (stacy, let me know if otherwise)..

As part of getting rid of stuff prior to moving to Louisville, there are a few items that have just been sitting around because I have been lazy....

Among those things are the contents of a quite old woodwrights box whose contents I will never use.

Among those are a set of old chisels. edges look to be in good shape. The handles are "ok" but could be replaced. Picture below - if anyone wants these, let me know and I can put them into a usps flat rate box to you....

On its way. Carlsbad???? I've been in your neighborhood once to visit the caverns .... very busy town. Is the oil boom still going on to the east of you???

I've been a green chile fan since 1987 - still have five pounds or so in the freezer waiting to be turned into sauce, or toppings for .... well .... anything :)

The oil boom has it's ups and downs but is still going on. There is a mobile home court on every vacant lot for the out of town oil workers.
A few weeks ago the stores were full of Hatch green chile. Now with colder weather that season seems to be over.

My hand planer arrived, thank you Cushing H.

I continue to work on cleaning out my shop. Several years ago when I was just getting going in making knives, I had no handle material, and was rather desperate to build a working supply. At that time I bought a cutoff of a 2" thick slab of black walnut, cut it down (mostly into 2"x2" blocks, but some 2"x1" pieces). In the meantime I have built a broader supply of wood more than sufficient for me - and so no longer need this larger supply of black walnut (I am holding on to some of it - just sent some out for stabilizing, and am holding on to two unstabilized pieces.

What is left is 15-16 pieces of unstabilized black walnut, mostly 2x2x6, some 1x2x6, and some longer pieces. If more than one of you want some, I can divide into two lots, each fitting into a flat rate box (I might need to cut down the length of one or two of the pieces to do that.

Again, this is a givaway - no charge and I will pay for the flat rate shipping. Please let me know if anyone is interested in this???

(aside, black walnut can be used as-is for handles with appropriate finish. But it does stabilize well, and when stabilized gains nice weight, and the stabilization does make the grain "pop" a little more. The person I spoke to at K&G before sending some out to them said that stabilized black walnut was one of his favorite handle materials.....)
