Cushings shop giveways

With the grain I see in that walnut, while not "fancy" it will still look pretty darn good once it's sanded with TruOil finish. Good - I see they are taken. I've got a good bit of Black Walnut myself from when we had a tree from my brother's pasture sawed up back in early '90s.
 
So .... is TheEdge01 the only one saying they actually want some of this? If so, I will see what I can fit into a medium flat rate box.... (otherwise I will divide the total amount....)

Id use it for sure, but TheEdge won it fair and square.... It's His.

I originally said i would divide it if more than one person wanted some. Im not sure it is really fair to operate with first-to-reply gets it (cant assume when someone will check the website … so ill divide it between you two. Can you each pm me with your mailing addresses?

If you still have any of the walnut, I can definitely find a use for some. If not, it's a great give away to whomever receives it.

I mentioned in another thread that I had to cut up some bookshelves to get them out of the room for painting. I finally got around to cutting down the vertical wood stands into blocks. This is clear furniture grade maple, for the most part the pieces measure 1 1/4 x 3 x 6 (with some variation). No way I can use all this wood (though I do want to hold some back for myself, I would prefer to find good home(s) for most of it. As is, I think it would make a great substitute for magnolia in a plain-ish Wa handle. Stacy says it dyes and stabilized really well .... and dyed I think it would make a beautiful component to a Wa, and a pretty good western style handle. The outer surfaces do have finish/varnish on them, so some light sanding before use or before stabilizing would be needed.

Let me know if you are interested in some of this? (I would prefer to keep shipping to either small or medium size usps flat rate boxes if possible).
(for some reason the site is freezing when I try to paste in a photo ..... I will come back in a while and try again to get a photo posted ..... oh, now I see, I need to renew my gold membership ..... will do so in a while.....)
 
I'm always looking for good handle material. I can't wait to see the photos.
 
no .... it is not my membership - something else is going on. I will wait a while and if it does not clear up I will have to brush off the cobwebs on a photo hosting site.... :-(
 
Did you bump the icon that liks this, [ ]? I did that recently and co8ld get my photos to work either.

When you write your posts, there are three dots in the top right corner. If you hit that, it opens a sub menu with the [ ] icon. This apparently disables code and wouldn't let me post photos. Hitting it again turned everything back on.
 
What a cool and generous thread!

If any of the maple is thick enough for a stick tang knife handle I could definitely use it. Happy to cover shipping.
