Custom BK11, Updated

I'd say keep the black wrap... Looks better that way, it will match the camo pattern quite nicely actually.

That said, why not just square up the spine and not need the striker... It looks "out of place" on the sheath.

lol, yea the striker came off after the photos. even with hardware mounting it, it still looks out of place. the sheath looks great and i didnt like hiding it. i keep a stiker on my keychain but wanted the whole setup complete. the ferro is on the handle and i wouldnt want to un do the wrap in order to start a fire. i normally have a larger knife with me with a fire kit as well but this works great.

Thanks man.

I have tried the OD green wrap a few days ago, but it didnt look as good as the black, so the black is back on to stay.

Update: I added shock cord for retention and it works fantastic. Plus, I enjoy practicing survival skills and while practicing making a few small snares i had an idea..... So I added 6 feet of snare wire to the handle, green trip wire. it..... kinda... matches. i can put it under the paracord so its not visible or on top for easy access. its on top for easy access for me. Now i have a very basic very light survival kit. A bk11 ferro rod and snare line in a great looking package.

very nice little setup you have there. compact but still has some essentials. nice job

Thanks Tman

Have you started a fire with that small ferro rod yet?

Yes, multiple fires. no problems. BUT.... when the ferro rod "toggle" was on a paracord bracelelt it was hard to get many sparks off of it. Here the knife acts as a handle for the ferro rod and increases support. Without the toggle tied down it is a pain in the arse.

I was thinking of adding a p38 can opener. i could use a little o ring to keep the cutter down and wrap it to the handle with paracord as well. then i could just move the little o ring off the cutter and open my cans as well. Turning it into a survival multi tool, But there was no way of making it LOOK GOOD and it was starting to get crowded so i stopped. There is just so much you can do with this knife and the more i use it the more it replaces my other cutters.

I have a 14 on the way as well and i will see how i can set it up for survival. im thinking under the paracord wrap will be snare wire and braided fishing line. or i could run it inside of gutted cord. on the handles edges maybe ill add a ferro and a magnesium rod on each side of the edge of the handle and maybe have some fishing hooks wrapped inside and connecting to the pinky ring circle hole.

What do you think? Any other ideas are welcomed too.
