Custom Bushcraft

one of my fav. knives is this Tom Krein XL Bushcraft. I think the design epitomizes a "bushcraft knife" ie. do it all, in particular delicate to medium chores.

this unfinished knife might make a good bushcrafter:

anyone wanna take a guess who made it?

here's another bushcrafty blade by Stephan Fowler, (makes a GREAT knife, he does:));

I don't see a reason why a "bushcraft" knife can't look good. It's kind of like dressed up hunting knives, many of which are still covered in blood, fat and various goo by the end of hunting season, get cleaned up and then still look beautiful. I don't see why a knife can't do hard work and look great.
I have the Koster bushcraft below with Desert Ironwood scales and red liners:

I don't hesitate to do anything I want with my knife, pretty or not. I still want a J. Neilson PS Scandi-Bushcraft now thats a pretty working knife:

Great thread Lorien.
this one is by Bob Alderman, antiqued 1085 and distressed osage orange.
Bushcrafters are the kind of knives you can "thunk" down and not worry about:D

Bill,

That is a really great image of the knife I made for you.

Hope it continues to treat you well.

Bob

I know that on the other side of the pond bushcraft means a scandi grind, looking very similar to a puukko, but I prefer a flat grind with convexed edge. I think the Kephart is the quintessential American bushcraft design.
