Great thread/knife Phillip!

I really love your steel and the finish you got with it... awesome stuff! :)

Thanks for taking all the time required to share this on the forum.

BTW- just curious, where are you moving to?

Wow great work Philip. Thanks for taking the time to document the process. The locating pin alignment spacer will help me greatly.

How do you know what angle to set your platen to when you are grinding the profile of the guard?

No surprise at all that the knife looks AWESOME Phillip!

The mosaic pin looks good and the damascus is beautiful!

Thanks for taking the time to do this WIP Phillip. The knife turned out great and I got a bunch of really good tips.

Thanks Nick, and you're welcome!

I'm moving to eastern Tennessee. It should be fun moving all my tools, but it'll be worth it to have milder winters...

Basically I try to grind it to the angle that it will be at when the handle is finished. So just take a measurement off a finished knife and you've got it.

Thanks, Phillip, and best of luck on the move !
What a great thread AND knife !
Congrats to the lucky new owner !

Best of luck on a safe and trouble free move Phillip. :)

I know firsthand what a job it is to move a knife shop, but I only had to move mine about 20 miles. Moving yours across a couple states (what, about 400-500 miles?) would really be something! I probably would have hired a flat-bed for a move like that.
