Custom karda/chakmak

I like the DMT idea, how flexy are they?

The credit card size ones are very rigid but I have never tried these mini hones.

They used to make them with two different grits on same tool but they seem to be hard to find now. Discontinued maybe? Two tools would give you coarse, medium, fine and extra fine. They were called Duo-sharp or something like that? Ill revisit and try to find them.

There's a company called Hewett that makes a dual grit plate in the US- they're maybe 4"x1" (which might be even better)

Found them! Hewlett Manufacturing. Those are nice too but they wont fit in the standard chakmak pocket being an inch wide. If you had a custom sheath you could have a pocket made to fit them I guess. That would work nicely.

This i what I had in mind- take one, split it (i'd recommend a hacksaw since the diamond doesn't do bandsaw blades any good) grind a tang into it, and drive fit it in a handle- the bolster on this is cut down .45 ACP brass.

Cool idea! I like the looks of that little handle you made for it a lot with the brass bolster. A round or half-round diamond file might work good as well.

I think that would be too thin a tang- i just cut the case head off.
It would be a bummer if the tang snapped while sharpening- i think that could lead to some stitches...

And in place in my gelbu special scabbard

Sorry for the wretched photo quality. We're off the grid and it's dark up here on the hill.
