Custom Kydex Sheath: Taco or Pancake style, which style is better?

I have a stock Becker Knife & Tool Bk9 and I am looking for a custom kydex sheath made for it. I am looking at a dangler style system because it's a medium to low-ride setup and
easier to draw the knife rather than a high-ride system which hinders drawing this large blade flawlessly. However, I am undecided between pancake and Taco style. I've had a pancake style years ago on a Rat7 and that was pretty cool and was a flat setup. what style do y'all think is better? I don't plan to have all kinds of junk riding on my sheath, because if you somehow lose your knife, if it gets stolen, everything is gone, right along with the knife and the nice sheath it sits in! I am getting a CRKT Minimalist Persian for a piggyback knife, some Ranger green G10 scales with orange liners from TKC, and maybe a ferro rod attachment for the kydex as well once I decide on what style to go with. Who has what style and why? and what has been y'all's experience with kydex in extreme weather. I live in Manitoba Canada and sometimes it gets to be -40 Celsius in the winter. Oh and thank you for y'all's input especially with the Kabar D2 Thread!

I like the pancake style because it gives me more options for belt attachments, including the option to mount two clips wider for more stability. Also, pancake sheaths can have a more prominent and comfortable ridge at the top to push your thumb against when drawing the blade.

Knife only? Get the taco style. Plan on adding accessories? Get the pancake style for more attachment points. I normally carry a large knife in my pack, so it’s taco style for me.
Do you think the pancake would be more suitable if I were to be wearing it on my belt, I plan on having the piggyback knife handle facing the right side, riding half on top of the sheath, and ferro rod attachment to the left? But I suppose I could have it all on one side but I don't want one side to be heavier, is that even possible? Ferro rod will be 6'' and 1/4 thick beast.

Pancake style will be wider and taco will be slimmer. Since you dont want to attach things to the sheath, I would go for taco.

EDIT: I take that back since you want to attach a whole other knife, dont know how I missed that lol maybe go pancake for the extra space for an extra knife and a giant sparkstick.

I dont know how kydex holds up in extreme weather. I would imagine it would get a little brittle but I dont know.

I’ve never been one to attach a smaller knife to my bigger knife. I usually carry a gun on my belt, so my large knife goes into my pack, along with all the other amenities. If you plan on piggybacking a smaller knife, it would make sense to get a pancake. It is indeed wider by a margin though.

Since every thread should have a picture of the subject matter,......

Another variable can be to have a sheath made in a special pattern of kydex. There seems to be hundreds of colors/patterns available. This taco carry for a SYKCo WD5 is Mossy Oak "Brush" pattern. Sheath made by BF member VJT, who did a fine job meeting my specs. 👍 (Sorry, I don't know how to link to BF user.) Holstersmith.com is where this Brush pattern was gotten in a 1ft x 1ft sheet.

Taco. I almost never wear a knife on my belt, but if it’s small enough, it might go in my pocket.

The CRKT Minimalist should arrive tomorrow, you should definitely check that one out. I'm planing on using it as a neck knife until I get my kydex sheath made, and then I will mount it piggyback style.
