Custom order group therapy thread

I might just email him again to make sure, I had a day where my server was acting a little weird and didn't send some things, I want to make sure my emails to him weren't some of those.

And Matt, I definitely will, if you don't mind the wait haha

Thanks, I've learned skills on how to wait, but waiting for my sebenza is using all of my skills:D

Congratulations on the Sebenza too, by the way. It's an awesome knife man, you'll love it. I just got my first recently, a large micarta inlay 21. Did you order directly from CRK?

Nope, I got a crazy good deal from a member with good feedback on the exchange, but it's BNIB with the cloth, birthday card, grease, box, and knife of course:thumbup:

Geez, Rob, EIGHT months? At my age, that just might be other-worldly... :)

I have no customs. I'm pretty happy with CRK at this point and consider myself pretty fortunate to have several.
I have seen some customs that are very nice, but I'm not "there" yet.
I do hope that you enjoy that knife once it comes in.
Sonny

Oh well then, your wait should be no big deal. I know what it's like waiting by the mailbox for a knife you're excited about, hopefully it arrives soon. When you said that you were waiting for it, I thought you meant you ordered from Chris Reeve himself. Supposedly the wait is 3 months for a minty fresh Sebenza!

Haha the time-frame is the only reason I was able to finally pull the trigger! At least I have eight whole months to get the money together! I think it would still turn my stomach to spend that kind of money in one shot on a knife, but the whole saving up over time thing really takes the edge off.

P.S.
The Sebenza is partially what influenced me to enter the next level of collecting :)
It was my first TRULY high end knife. I figured if I was capable of finally getting a Sebenza, what ELSE can I get?...
Better yet, if this is production, I wonder what custom knives are like?!

I'm hoping to enter the custom market myself very shortly. I know of a guy about 20 miles from me that makes knives from old sawmill blades and files with beautiful leather sheaths. They are gorgeous and reasonably priced. I'd really like a Filip de Leeuw Chinese damascus folder.

Have you seen Alan Davis's work? He posts on here all the time, he does something similar to what you're referring to. I've seen some really beautiful fixed blades (and recently, a slip joint too) that he makes from old misery whip saw blades, and they're reasonably priced too for a custom knife made from his skill.

Oh no! I'd go crazy! I can only take so much self torture haha

How do you think I feel? :(
I can't even express how excited I'll be when I get that email from Eric, telling me that he's almost done. I don't think I can let myself buy any more knives for the next 8 months! (except maybe that large tanto Sebenza I want... maybe... if I sell some knives... and don't eat...)

I think you feel worse than me. Maybe you should just watch jdavis882 and xiuxiu1313's reviews of it over and over while you wait for it. All I do is keep watching sebenza reviews(except nutnfancys, I just watched that so I could see why he thought it was tactical, he never explained....)

Oh no, I didn't even know that Carter had posted one until you just told me. I just watched it and it's only fueling my anticipation. I love how Eric's knives evolve as he works on them.

I am a fairly patient person but I still check my email constantly as if one of the knife makers I have ordered from is going to email me to tell me they have begun working on mine even though that is still months out...

This thread is helping quite a bit, it is almost like group therapy...lol

There sure is! He doesn't have pics on his website yet. You can have one in about 8+ weeks.

Oh man, this is bad. I'm supposed to be saving.
This thread was intended to be therapeutic so we could all talk out our shared misery, now look what's happening!
I guess I could walk to work for a couple weeks...
