Custom order group therapy thread

LOL, sorry buddy!

Haha I suppose I have myself to blame.
I was planning on getting one other knife, probably another Sebenza, between now and then. I might just get an El Patron in 3V instead. Not a huge difference in price, and it's a custom in a different class than a Sebenza. I still have about 5 knives to sell, I'll see what I want to do with the money when I free up some funds from those. Only question is if I want a flipper or not... I wish he had pictures up of the flipper version.

Curently waiting on Will Woods Titan, 2 Farid Mehr K2's in CPM-REX 121, Dalibor Regulus, Willumsen 1 of a kind damascus flipper, Tuffknives custom, and the list goes on....LOL! And yes, I find that most of my older collection has been sold/traded to fund these new acquisitions. Don't regret any of it!! Cheers gents.

What do you guys have on order? Custom or not, what are you expecting in the mail?
I have to wait an excruciating 8 months for mine, I want to know that there are others that share my strife in both finances and patience.

8 months? That's it? I've been waiting for over a year and a half on my custom DDR. I don't even think Darrel has started work on my order yet. 8 months is nothing. :P I commissioned my build back in January of 2011. It is a custom 4 inch m390 bladed linerlock Gunhammer with a blade profile that I can only describe as the love child of a drop point and a traditional tanto (not triangle wedge shaped). The handles will be 3d textured bead blasted titanium. I would have preferred stone washed, but with the 3d texturing, I don't think it's possible to get a nice stone wash. The linerlock (YES, I specifically wanted a linerlock for my own reasons) is also titanium. The blade is stone washed. Nothing will be anodized. I wanted a working man's finish, hence the bead blasting and stone wash. Scratch a stone washed blade and you won't notice it. Scratch a highly polished blade and you will probably throw a hissy fit. The pivot uses shielded thrust bearings. I have another custom feature I requested personally that I don't see on many knives at all. I will not say what it is until the knife is finished and in my hands. I want to have my unique knife at least for a day before people start requesting this feature from Darrel.

For neuron and any other people that like to joke around:
And if some of the gang from the DDR/HTM forum mocks me again by saying the feature is a rhinestone inlay (long standing joke in that subforum), I will personally see to it that all of the sprint run knives will have rhinestone inlays.

Strange, I ordered both of my Solos with rhinestone inlays...

But seriously, that thing sounds amazing, I'd love to see pictures when you finally get it.

I am having Big Chris make me one of his wharncliffe edc's in black and toxic green G10 with a black bolster. Truly excited for it.

Although none of the customs I have ordered are being worked on yet (at least as far as I know), I did get lucky and a maker I follow had someone drop out of a build already completed so I have one coming that should be here tomorrow!!!

Got it at a stupid sick discount as well!

You going to give us a hint to who/what it is? ;)

A SouthPaw Knives Rescue one...

It is a manual flipper with thrust bearings, Ti liner lock, sculpted black and toxic green G10 and the best part (other than the price), it is a lefty!!! There were 2, one sold quickly (orange and black G10 model) and after several attempts at selling the other one, I made him an offer and he accepted. While not really a custom since it was not tailored to my specifications, Ira does all the work himself by hand except for heat and cryo treatments. I may get a knife pimper to modify it a little to make it into what I would consider a true custom (namely blade finish, scales and anodized liners/clip).

You can check out photos of it on SouthPaw Knives' Facebook page. Of course, I will post up some pics when I get it!

I just looked up his stuff and I like it. Talk about getting lucky haha not only is it at a discounted price, but a lefty as well. Congratulations man, can't wait to see the pictures when you get it!

So now I'm in a bit of a secondary dilemma...

I've decided that I have to get just one more knife within the time it will take to complete my Solos with the money I can make from selling my other knives. I've narrowed it down to two, but I need your help deciding which one.

Calavera Cutlery El Patron flipper in 3V... or
CRK Large Sebenza 21 tanto...

Both have their similarities, about $70 price difference though.

I have a small Sebenza tanto and I like it but not in love with it. I'll pick my El Patron or VECP 9/10 times depending on the occasion.

Waiting on my 2nd Pohan Leu which should be soon, very soon... a matching kwaiken to the mini tanto he made me at the beginning of the year. It'll be a sexy set.
Also keeping a strong eye out for Daniel Fairly's new friction folder...

You know, that's one that I haven't considered, the VECP. I like it a lot, and it would be less expensive than both of my other choices if I was to order directly from Les George. Unfortunately he's not taking any orders as of now, but when he opens back up that might be a good option.

Rob- I'm DONE and TG for that!! I have a custom Tuco from Mikkel Willumsen and my working knife is a Spyderco Salt. These two folders are all I REALLY need!
Good luck! Don't go nuts or broke or both!!

Thanks Rob!!!

All of the customs I've ordered are lefties. IMO, there is no reason to spend more than 200 on a knife that is not made for me (which pretty much means lefty). I end up missing out on a lot of really nice knives and it even stops me from getting knives from some of my favorite custom makers as well. However, it does keep me from spending far too much money and ending up in serious debt...lol ;)

Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow and I tell ya, it is much harder to wait when it is on its way!
