Hi All,

I'm honestly not trying to annoy anyone by asking this again but here is what I am looking for.

Preferrably Full Tang Scandi that will be my go to knife for the woods to supplement a larger fixed blade/axe - here's the kicker I have an order in for a Shookum - but want to get another blade in the next couple of weeks.

Is there an awesome maker that uses 01/ or 5160 etc that also provides a sheath with Ferro Rod combo (maybe an additional pocket on the front for a stone etc as well) that is not so backlogged on orders that I can get one soon -without waiting 1 month/ 6 months / decade :D

I need it to cut like the dickens (Fuzz Sticks / skinning game etc), but need it to be able to handle batonning if needed.

Please post pics if you don't mind of knife and Sheath.

Thanks,

sp

I know Muskrat Man and Ice Tigre make such blades not sure about sheath:confused:

You could also try one of the makers on British Blades. More expensive but nice!

I am looking for the same thing. I don't see myself spending $200 and waiting for half a year. But the criteria you described is what the SKookum is. Look an The Fallkniven H1. Good luck. Just buy a bunch of full stick tang Mora #2 knives.

I think he is doing more runs of his Bushcrafter. It's such a cool knife at a very reasonable price. I'm not the biggest Scandi fan generally, but I really like this knife. Here's mine

I'm waiting for my nessmuk from muskrat man, comes with a sheath, I'm sure if you talk to Kaleb, he can arrange something for you, he's quite a good fella.

 Excellent blade, I order 1ea. bushcraft (Green micarta) & 1ea. Survivor(Green micarta) . Excellent knives ..you know me, after I have both in-hand I will pair the two up in a Tandem leather sheath ! :D

I'm already eyeing the Bushmaster, now that looks like an excellent knife! Damn this place and what it does to my wallet!

Yeah the one from Koster is an excellent buy and can be had in a variety of steel:thumbup:

It is a bit smaller in the handle and overall than the Skookum
KBhandle3.jpg

My only reservation is it is a bit thicker than the Skookum so it is not as good at slicing thick stuff like potatoes
KBslicing2.jpg

The first one I got had the quarter inch scales and I found the handle to be too narrow for extended work.

I returned it to Dan along with some 3/8" scales and had him return it to me unshaped, but glued up so I could shape it to my hand and now it is super comfortable:thumbup:;) The original I had was MUCH thinner than the Skookum

The 3V is very durable but very slow to sharpen, but if that is a problem for you he has them in 01 also:thumbup:

He offers probably the best deal on that style knife!

The thickness of the steel is putting me off on that one. I'd love to have one of the plain bushcraft ones in 1/8"

LOVE the handle on yours HD. Thing is shaped and contoured perfectly, and is nice and fat.

both the skookum and the koster bushcraft knife, are excellant all around field blades... i love my kster knife... that thing is wicked sharp...

i have one of these bad boys on order... a custom full tang scandi from scott tanguay...:D 4 in. O1 blade abd curly maple scales.... www.tanguaycustomknives.com the price and the wait time, were the best part about this one...

i just bought a mora 746 from ragweed forge. i have a custom sheath coming in from jre . what does a custom scandi have over a mora 746?? from what i've been able to see on this forum, the regular frost and erikkson mora's are superb as they are.

what makes a custom any better than superb??

Bill,

I'm a big mora fan. I think fit and finish is a big part of a custom knife other things they might posess are thicler blade stock, a full tang, ( many moras are not full tang) superior heat treat, and better quality control if an individual craftsman makes one knife a day it is a piece of art that he takes pride in and invests a part of hmself into...as opposed to a factory that can crank out a hundred n an hour... THat being said I don't own a custom but have a box full of user moras... they are great...

Another point to add to RescueRileys comment is that I don't have that fear of loosing or breaking a Mora. There is no babying with a real user knife. I always felt afraid of my expensive knives being damaged or lost.

+1 on the Koster Bushcraft. A very nice knife and I don't suppose the wait would be too long considering how quickly he cranks the knives out.
