i was a wandering if you BBBF's would use a thread jest for custom shop commentary such as descriptions of your most recent desires in a custom knife!! IE: if it concerns the custom shop ya can post it here!
yes say all your wishes , wants , atta boys, complaints and of course what you would buy now if it were there and what you would like to be able to do on a order and what you think of the current custom shop debate..

.. I understand we love our Bucks and we need to patronize our company but to cry at the doorstep for whole new lines of Customs??? ....
What 'Trax suggests is in a word, do-able, to change the offsets on the CNC and laser out exotic 119 blades for very little expense, if the blanks allow that is.
I hope all who make it this far in the text do not see this as a rant or negative in the least. ,
it may not be in our best interest to clamor for more but to do more as WE can on this side of things.
Dave
i agree with what you saying there Dave..
i will say that
i think the rush of CS orders was taken notice of in a good way!
i am very sure it added value to the voices that take up for the collectors that sit at the meetings to decide were to go and what to make NEXT ...
and believe it or not..
increasing numbers in the membership of the BCCI is always taken notice of !!!

there is a official of the BCCI who's duties include interfacing with Buck management and this includes persons other then Joe...
if you are a member of the BCCI you have a voice that way also use it!..

and you are right >> there are some things we can do, such as buying directly from buck rather then internet flea market sales ...

i believe there may be some new venues in the future ...
some thing with carving or scrimshaw perhaps as well some limited runs of differing lines...
why it might even be possible to to have more of a true custom shop then we have now ... whispers of new options and things you can have done are being considered as real possibility's...
they will need to know what you would buy!
and BTW:
buck don't need or want every one to be like me ...
they really and truly want to know what makes you unhappy
and were they need improvement..

emails YOU send in were YOU care enough to put YOUR name on it either way are the proof that the ones whom care for what you say, can be printed out and placed on the desk of those that make decisions ... AND
i know this has been done!!!

and never underestimate the importance of a Real Letter either..

the store at buck ... one can call and find out what they have...
or buy directly from the catalog ...

IMHO, it would be really helpful if the Buck website would add a link to their factory store and what is currently in inventory.

Considering how fast these 110's with synthetic handles put on after market are selling on EBay, I think Buck might look into offering some like that through the CS.

I don't think it is a good idea to have one dedicated thread to the Custom Shop knives. These threads take too many turns and by the second page they are onto a different topic already. I like it when we get new threads to keep it interesting. As to the rest of you post Dave, I have no idea what you are talking about? gd526? Pics in sigs? We can all edit and change our sigs, not just you ;) You keep pushing, I am pushing back :D I do find it humorous though everything you typed gets edited... :D

To get this thread back on topic, I would like to see Buck have a CS 110 with Nickel silver, FG, S30V blade and Bahama cherrywood handles... Oh nevermind, we got that covered already... Ummm how about a 119 with charcoal grey handle and ATS-34 blade? Oh never mind they got that covered too.. Sorry Dave, I guess I am good. Thank you ;)

I would like to see more options for the knives that are now in the custom shop line.

Maybe things like this for the 110:
Thumb notches on the back of the 110 blade, should be easy for them to do
Make a "one armed bandit" an option or
A thumb stud option
G10 scales or some synthetic as has been mentioned
Open top custom sheathes maybe

Or how about a factory auto 110? With the G10 scales I think it would be a great knife. Or, an auto custom shop option if you wanted to keep it limited and traditional. I think that would be a real seller!

I don't think any of the above would be cost prohibitive for them and are things I would pay to have done. Better Buck get the money than the after market guys.

Then I would love to see another folder or 2 added to the custom shop line up if possible, but don't want to get greedy.

I would like to see more natural inserts available, such as Lignum Vitae, Desert Ironwood, jimped bone and such. I just recently finished collecting other manufacturers knives and am concentrating on my Buck 110 collection. More variations from the Custom Shoppe are always welcome.

yes, i will seconded that ...
i like variations also!!!
now what of this thought....

the CS orders in some jiged bone... not a lot... they have some extra s30v. blades....
so they make up say only 20 - 110s or some other knife and jest put out that as of now there are only 20 and the price is say 80$ would you buy one? what of another scale material ... pre-make only 10 to 20 of old school lignum vitae with plain jain 420 MP ... say at 60$ would you buy one?
i am saying>> if they once in a while pre made a few customs and like posted in the bcci rag only 10 available ...would you want the chance to buy one?
if not this one
then would you want the chance to buy a pre made some thing like above..?

That sounds like a great idea, or maybe a BCCI Email mailing list, that way it goes out to everyone at the same time, instead of using the USPS.

We are all on the same page. I am certainly not here to offend any one and I think my sensitivity to the former employees indicates that. Yes, Dave, the avenues you point out all help our cause with Buck Knives Inc. Since they still 'employ' their Senior Partner and they DO listen to us devotees, Buck Knives Inc. is 'my' knife company! I am not inclined to edit any one's opinion about what they would like to see from the Custom Shop but I am still standing on the fact that at most times recently there have been up to 5 open threads about "Gimme 112s". Hit the dead horse again? Point made...and made....and made ad nauseum. Yes, ask Buck! Yes, champion a cause! But eventually isn't the clamour from the back seat answered with a "NOOOO.... WE ARE NOT THERE YET".
How about a Custom Caper? Blades can be made as evidenced by the Klinks from a few years back! How about scalers and handle choices on the filleting 121 from the CS? Again, they can be made!
There seems to be an abundance of 112s that have already been made with custom touches. Have we already secured each of those?
I own one 112, sold the other a couple of weeks ago thanks to my BBB, but the one that satisfies my itch is the green scaled custom gem! We like what we like and that is wonderful that the variety keeps things interesting.
Let's just have some decorum for our fallen workers and see what BKI can feasibly offer us that will continue to allow them, and us as consequence, to prosper!

...I think they should try to use the BCCI site a heck of a lot more than they do. Posting those few CS 110's, or whatever they put together, in the BCCI site, would be a boon to the members of the club for sure. As it is now we see no real, direct interaction between Buck and the club at all...Post 'em in the BCCI site and I'd wager you'd see a lot more use of the site as well as a potential for new members wanting to sign-up. It would be good for the members and good for Buck...if they wanted to sell those "few" Customs...You can bet the members would be looking in to see what's available...But let's not forget Buck's regular corporate site. They should utilize, monitor and maintain it a whole lot more than they do now. If someone fills in a "Remark" form on the site they should respond to it. I've filled out the "Buck Knives Insider" thing twice since it started and I've yet to get anything from Buck regarding it...They supposedly have an e-newsletter that was to be sent to me but I've never seen it or had it sent to me at all...As to the pre-made CS knives...post 'em on the BCCI site...We'll buy 'em...

Whenever folks get around to making the authorized list of topics we are and are not allowed to discuss, please post it for rest of us.

Hey... Dave... Buck Brothers? They made wood chisels and woodturning chisels & gouges - still have my three decade plus old set. Can I get an A2 parting chisel with a water buffalo handle? How 'bout a medium skew chisel of 1095 - with flaming Koa? Ah, never mind - my CTS ended my turning days.

Can you imagine what they'd cost now? I think that big-handled Buck Bros 8-piece set was $60-$70 back then... the peanut baron was prez....

I filled it out twice as well, nothing here either! Maybe they dont have anything yet? I agree utilize the BCCI website!
I did sign up for the BCCI "heads-up" when Buck has their Factory store clearance and havent received the last 2 emails about it. Which could also be due to spam filters, email changes, etc... etc... Luckily I have fellow BCCI guys to hook me up ;) I think they do everything they can but that is alot to keep track of as well. Now for the BCCI site though!!! ;)

What Darryl said. I would love a chance at some limited production 110's via the BCCI.

It was 97 and no breeze today, I got so hot putting three new railroad ties on the flower bed I about passed out, instead I ended up having a idea. How about a 301 with polished blades, choice of a couple three different scale materials, maybe redbone, brown bone, white bone and black pearl. You could choose your scale and then have up to say, 15 letters etched in the blade. Date, names, award, etc. Would be a semi-custom. Will need to be no more than 50 bucks each so kids could afford them for their elders gifts. Would be great for BDs, fathers day, company awards, club offerings, etc. Tang would say custom but have a date stamp.
I can see it now a 300Bucks etched Black Pearl.......man OH man.
300$s

Thanks for the effort MW but I walked off for the evening....On the post edit.....My excuse was 1. The heat effect and 2. Notice on the keyboard the h is directly above the n so that a lazy finger could miss-type......
I am getting older, wiser and use to the bigger world. I found it funnier than the Redneck from Oklahoma I am. Besides if 334 can type like he does and we read it the rest of us have a whole lot a slack to get by with..........300

300....It was obviously a typo, just an especially funny one...

BTW...I like the idea of a custom shop 301. I carry the 309 daily. It's small for some tasks. A custom 301 would be a great EDC.

Stay cool, supposed to be in the mid-90's today in N.Calif.....Mike

I can think of only one thing that I wish the Custom Shoppe would offer....

110's with titanium frame and bolsters.
