So....whats new guys?:foot:

I dont check the forums over the weekend. As much as I love knives, I deal with them all week and the weekend is for my family. (except for the occasional visit to fleabay) So please dont blame the lack of response between friday and tuesday as a lack of caring on my part.

So I come in to work today and get a link to "the" thread on the custom shop. 13 pages long. WOW!
My inbox has several emails from concerned custom shop patrons and I get a call from 334Dave regarding, you know what.
I cant promise anything, but I am pretty sure they will be taking another look at this very soon.
As tempting as it is to be upset with Buck and those that work here, please hang in there a while longer while we sort this out.
As to those 13 pages, no way I will read them all, makes me too mad.

I remember what an old timer told me once about being married. He said you work your butt off trying to make the wife happy and if you do manage to do something right, you get an "atta boy". You get yourself 100 atta boys and you get something really special. But one "Oh shoot" brings your atta boy total back to zero and you have to start all over again.
Looks like we are at Zero again...:grumpy:

well you jest got one big "attaboy" from me!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
thanks for letting us know you care,:D;)
and that Buck hears us!:)
hay- you never could be at zero.. neather would buck..
most of us were jest some what hurt thinking we could not afford them any more...

I support Buck buy buying several non Custom Shop Buck knives from the new line-up
every year and add in a few Customs and want to see them prosper.
I know about the hero to zero ....it was the same in my racing days.
Win the race and everyone was your friend and wanted to know your secrects.
Lose the next few and your "new " friends left.
I will stick with Buck and help support them.
Thanks Joe ,I'm beside you.

Thank you for posting your response Joe. I for one really do appreciate it.

Isn't the first day back to work after a long weekend wonderful ;)

Thanks for your input Joe :)

Not in my book; you are as good as it gets!! If every customer rep for every business did even half of what you do to make your customers satified, the coporate world would be a far better place.:thumbup::thumbup:

I am in no way mad at or disappointed in you one bit Joe,You are probably one of THE most important employees at Buck, there is no way Buck would run the same without you!

I am just a bit upset at the pricing of some of my most favorite knives is all.

I guess everything comes to an end sometimes, thanks for the response Joe,it shows us Buck nuts once again exactly who the man is.

I noticed sadly, the increased prices on the"New" Custom shop link!
Even if i still dont know will I have chance ever order from that shop!
I was fallen love with Buck, due there ultimate quality, and "stay on the ground" prices, that price is made it possibile for the every day people to have a great tool!
Those tools helping them ,carry on there daily duty,or support there hobbies ,activities, worldwide!
I think he affordable price took a major part of the reason bucks became so popular.
This increased price will take away the chance from many people to own a special personalized knife. And what about if this is just a first step, and the next gonna be the standard line?
I not dooubting Mr.Houser care, but I'm not so shure he can force the company to reconsider there decission!I'm hope he got that power!

...No one in these forums has expressed the thoughts and feelings of all those who are concerned about Buck knives better than you have karesz. You've stated those thoughts very well indeed. Joe Houser can not be expected to be a miracle worker, but there's also no doubt that he will do all he can...

Well...I kinda of disagree with what you said Joe. In that you have a ton of "points" with me and I am certain with others of this motely crew. But the new pricing is BS. And, I am guessing, out of your control....maybe not your influence, but out of your control.

Margin needs to be based on a percentage of cost of doing business. I doubt Buck was losing money on the custom shop...but maybe wanted to increase that profit margin.
Gouging is something I expect the oil producers to do, but never thought Buck would.

Some have stated that maybe this is a way for Buck to get out of the Custom biz. I doubt that. It would have been easier just to shut it down than to go through this crap.

I'm thinking that there was a gross miscalculation on brand/custom shop loyalty. I would venture to guess that a good percentage of the customer orders were from peeps that look here on this forum. Look at the posts from people saying they won't order any more. Then do the math on the lost revenue. I am guessing that one high end custom at current pricing would make up for six knives at a reasonable price, for example. But the repeat biz gone. One high end custom won't make up for the six REPEAT customers that would order regularly as they have in the past.

Speaking of wives, I'd rather spend my life with one woman that is loyal and good than the hassle of the dating scene with it's hit or miss of loons. In order words, I think Buck is betting on folks to order from the Custom Shop for that one time birthday or anniv gift...whatever.
If I was running the biz, I'd want that consistent loyal person to come back regularly instead of a one hit wonder (one night stand).
You guys just bit your nose to spite your face.

Oh well...like they say, "do right, no one remembers. Do wrong, no one forgets".
I, for one, am not forgetting.

It's up to 14 pages...My suggestion would be to read them all...And get an idea of how we feel...

well i agree with the goosemister... on some things.. and at risk or loosing any ride on the scoot will dissagree with him on others...
like as not there are bean counters who have a lot of input...
they are like some parts of anatomay ... not actrive but nessary for the end result...

and there is a large amount of expense most of you guys would never see... and many never think of... i have worked in places like buck ... so much so i CAN repair the machines they use!

my frist thought was set up or hidden expense and over head got counted by some pin heades bean counter motion effencty expert...
this is a part of all things produced... and can be controled some what ....
but it will not go away... some bean counters also dont think of customer loyaty ... and what loyal customers are worth...
some times they they talk a good story ... jest like the texas surub..
but they some times only focus on one line only ...
so untell i know facts i will hope they only got under the spell of a bean counting nit picker who showed them figures and charts that said rase prices or custom line will cost you lots of money...
we got an unusual happening
a company spokesman responded and commented on some thing 99 % of amreican companys would not ... that some customers were unhappy with them...
i can not say why but i feel there is reason to hope!
Yea Bay-be! i realy need that jar tonite !!!

i think that was his first feelings he had read enught. rember Joe has privlige to express feeling also
dont worry i am sure he will read all of it as will sarah and cj..
jest hope the nit picker bean counter does also!!!

Hey Dave...I'll give ya ride anytime. No worries.
And, yes, Joe gets kudos for showing up at the OK Corral.
But, it's not his fight...he is our voice but I personally don't see any hope of this changing. If it does, it will be like gas going down to $3.50 a gallon...we'd all be happy but forget that just a year ago $3 a gallon was an outrage.

Don't be fooled into thinking that Buck just woke up one day after all this time and said. "Wow, I'm losing money at the custom shop". They've been making coin on that biz...if they weren't, shame on them.

Their plan is for the dust (noise) to settle and all the new peeps will think nothing of it. Like me telling my kid I used to pay $0.35 a gallon for gas...just a memory.
We're just dust in the wind Brother.
