Custom shop

Hi All,

It's almost 2AM here in CA...I just got home from work. I agree with most of what everyone has said in these two threads on this topic. There is a lot of emotion, anger, and hurt feelings....and don't think for a moment...that any of us are whining here.

Joe, I commend you for stating your feelings and I hope you state our case, cause...or what ever it is. As always thanks for being there for us.

I'm glad to see Mr. Houser speak out on the subject also. being new to buck gathering i would hate to think i started while they were in some kinda of distress or inner-departmental meltdown. i would certainly like to acquire a couple custom knives that i picked specifically for my wants or needs. and in my opinion there are a few combos that are obtainable that are reasonable on cost. i think from what i have read here that in the past (before shutdown) the custom shop had supplied alot fellas alot of exotic customs at better than reasonable cost but at a extended time rate. Now (reopening) you pay somewhat more but wait far less. i work in a production job and we are always behind and can't make enough, so i can understand the pressure buck may have had that made them change their SOP. just my thoughts as a newbie. No disrespect to anyone intended!!! im going back to the custom website and do some mix and mathching. LOL!!!

As to those 13 pages, no way I will read them all, makes me too mad.

This is puzzling. Are you mad because of the price increases?

Or mad about the tone of the complaining?

Are you mad because the thread is so long?

I, for one, am totally puzzled here.

Also, if you could give us a clue as to how this happened.......well, of course, that's what we really want to know.

I guess we can conclude one thing......it is not a mistake and the price increases were made with forethought and intent.......because if it was a mistake that would have been the first thing you would have told us.

I appreciate Mr. Houser and all he does for 'us', the collective Buck-ites. I guess if I wanted him to get one thing from our collective diatribes, it would be this: recall how you boil a frog! Probably a couple of price increases over time wouldn't have been as notcied - but would have ended in the same place. Instead, dem fwoggs be fwoppin all o'er da place!

As I said earlier, I really don't know how Buck can sell some products as cheaply as they do. Also, I still have a couple of 'gotta haves' from this year's offerings. I'm not going anywhere - literally - I can't afford the gas! Besides, shopping for Bucks on the 'phone - or net - is fast!

i for one would be glad to wate longer for a better price..
bcci club customs are done in lots of like 50 i belive i have heard once..

like a ride on a scoot with de goosemister! yea baaa-byyy!

Just by Joe's fun and personable style of saying things, I doubt very seriously he truly meant the comment about not reading all the threads.

Its his job to know! There is little doubt in my mind that he has a hard copy of all of this and what ever team is involved as well, and that it has been seriously studied.

It's business folks. They will or should be analyzing any and all customer feedback.

Whether anything positive happens is up to them.

I have asked myself, if this truly stays as is, would I be as willing to toss out some comments to a lost looking customer at wally or academy or any of the retail places, in an attempt to sell them a Buck product.

We all have done that to some degree without even working there. Will I still do it. donno...yet

I was wondering if someone was going to pick up on that.
Mad about the price increase? Absolutely.
Mad about the tone of the complaining? No, I think it is warranted, (except when it implies that the folks at Buck are in some way evil.) I am more frustrated at how this whole event has made everybody here feel. And I can understand why certain comments are made.
Mad about the length of the thread? No, its just a symptom....ok, I'll read them all. :)
Mostly mad because I really dont think any of this should have happened...it could have been avoided. I cant say much, but I can promise that there is no grand plan or scheme in regards to the custom shop. No one is standing around wringing their hands saying "Excellent!"
By the way, if I ever give the impression that I dont appreciate and welcome frank and open discussion in here, call me on it ok? We have always been about listening to our customers.
Oh, and dont underestimate my powers!!!!:cool::D

Mr. Joe Houser,
Thank you for writing and letting us know that you're aware of the problem of the prices at the custom shop being raised. However, I would still like an explanation to why it happened from you and the other moderator, the owner CJ Buck. You all might have a great explanation, but you didn't share it. We're your biggest buck fans here at your forum, and have supported your company w/ our money. Yet, I get the feeling, through the company's actions at the custom shop, that you and the company think of us as a bunch of head-nodding, mouth-breathing sycophants ... Good job, you and CJ Buck and the company did not handle this well or professionally. I hope an explanation is forthcoming from the bossman.

Sincerely,
Chris

Dare I assume that this steep increase in prices :thumbdn:for Buck Custom Shoppe knives has ALSO increased the value of the ones I already have??? I guess I better call the insurance guy to bump up my coverage. :grumpy: Paying this much for a Buck Custom should also drive up the prices seen on FleaBay for them as well as others such as Yellowhorse knives. The bad and the good?

Probably won't see any Customs for sale until people figure out what all this means.

It's a mystery now, but if it holds.....your knives will indeed be worth more.

I'm betting that everyone here has at least taken a cursory glance at replacement cost or new value based on the new prices.

I know my wife has  :rolleyes::D

Pack Rat, actually, I have not done that, and I would modify your adage to something like "If your wife knows exactly how many knives and guns you have, you don't have enough." :) ;)

Unless I missed something along the way, I think you know that that is not how Joe feels about the people on here, and very rude and unfair to even include him that statement.

Or....."Your wife knows too much."

:D

Actually my wife is very involved in my knives. She is the reason for those multiples in that pic. why buy just one, you know they will go up, she says.

she is a keeper :D

Oh Yeah, Dr.TS, She will quickly tell you which guns are hers. :) :)

I have some problems with Custom shop, cannot find a 110 with BG-42 blade.

I ordered a 110 with BG-42 via an Austrian dealer in Vienna. Buck said yes, they would do it. Five months ago, I'm still waiting.

Does Buck still do a custom 110 with BG-42?
