I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and I am sorry for a post on this topic that has been slang up and down these WSK halls for some time . .. .BUT . .. I am looking for some custom WSK options, I would really like a Linger, but can't get a reply from him to save my life and have no IDEA on how much one of his goes for . . . I want a quality WSK with a (here it comes) Beck or close to Beck's specs . .I know this can be pricy, but I am saving money at the momment.

DAMN IT BECK we want you back on this knife!!!! You must know we WSK lovers judge all WSK knives by your design ..it is the Bible of WSK knives.

Roger your knife is awesome too.

Any info would help guys.

I think Dan Koster is working on a "wsk" type design...

Linger is busy bro...

It takes time to answer e-mail...

Yeah, like the month I have been waiting for a reply after 3 of my guys paid a deposit (after waiting 8 months to pay a deposit) and still nothing. No answer by the start of next week and I am going to cancell all of my WSK orders from Roger (7) so there should be a nice jump in the queue for someone that has more patience than the Sphynx. Knife making is not only about making the knife its about communicating with the customers too.

Rant over

Yes, I should be releasing a WSK at Blade '06. But it will not be a Beck copy...something a bit different. ;)

AFAIK/AFAIC...Beck makes the Beck version. :D :p

You'll probably have a hard time finding someone willing to flat out copy a very recognizable pattern. Usually makers like to give their own personal "spin" to it....at the least to avoid plagarism....at best, to conform to their own personal style.

If an "original" is what you desire, they do come up on ebay every once in a while (but at a price!)

I wonder what beck thinks about all this hype over his blade (besides loving all the $ that comes his way)
I'm sure if Dave was making the WSK he would have a loooooong backlog. I think the recent interest in wanting a Beck WSK is the fact that they are becoming scarce and with that, any out there demand a premium price. It's like anything, the harder it is to get, the more you want it, at least for me anyway.:D It sure would be nice to see Dave start making knives and posting here again.

Mr. Beck is actually glad to see there's knifemakers out there making the WSK when he's not able to and he's not getting a penny from others for using this desing. Actually, many Wsk's and other blades he sold went toward paying hospital bills.

Hey Daniel, as soon as you got a pick for me to look at, could you send it to me with some specs and a price, or let me know where to look . .Thanks and look forward to it.

I see !!!! your are not the only one! That is the Evidence proved the innocence of Ishiyumisan! guilty is the KnifeMaker. I really hope on.... Honesty is the best policy...Ditto to tell "If can ketchup with your client...don't ....you know the rest!"
I want so bad one WSK I don'T know who trust who?? Dilemma?
Sory about this but i fell shit.

Good news!!!! (at least for me)

I have recently been contacted by Roger and must say WOW! What a guy!

First off, he e-mailed me some basic answers to my questions, as more questions arose form me, he shot me over his phone number (sorry I will not give out any of his personal or buisness info. so don't ask, e-mail him and be patient). I tried to qroup my questions together to sound prepared and not to waste his time, assuming it would be a 5 min conversation. I just got off a 40 min. conversation with him about his work and the WSK. He was very helpful to me (know that I am a newbie with limited knowledge of custom knives) he answered all of my questions, was very straightforward with what to expect from him and let me know that I was free to call with any concerns. I was shocked at how warm and personable he was to me.

Anyone wanting to purchase a WSK from him must know that he is very busy (many people want this knife from him)and they must be patient with him. I believe him to be an honorable man with a huge workload under him. As they say you get what you pay for, and when it comes to custom knives, time is part of the payment. Many people may complain about how long would would take to have a custom knife made, but if it is a handcrafted knife, wouldn't you want him to take his time and get it right for you? That said, understand the fact that you are not the only one on the list .. and you got yourself quite a wait. For me, it is all worth it, it's not like I won't have other knives of interest while waiting. So decifer for yourself if you want a quality knife that is handmade with care. Yet, If you don't mind a 'production' quality knife and are looking for something thats lighter on your checkbook and is shipped upon purchase, then this option is not for you.

I have a TOPS tracker as well, to me not a bad knife at all and I will keep it, yet I wanted more. For my money, I am willing to wait and pay extra for a handcrafted custom WSK. I feel honored and lucky that my first custom knife will be from Roger Linger.

Bottomline, way your options, and if you feel that you want to go custom I feel Roger is a great choice, just be patient and be sure that it is the road you want to travel. Now gotta go, I have to decide what kinda options I want for my WSK!!!

Temper: and demoteamone: I am sorry for your woes, and hope all works out. I have had my questions answered and now know what to expect, so I don't expect ot be let down. Don't give up, keep trying, it took me a few e-mails before my first response.

Well, I am not sure if the time he gave me was a 'saftey cushion' for himself, or it was actually a rough estimate, but his words was that it COULD take up to two years . .again, he has his reasons for giving this this ammount of time and I am agreed to that estimate, so it will be what it will be.

I see!....Be careful to perhaps and maybe!

I ordered a knife from Roger back in the beginning, when he first started making the WSKs and I got it pretty fast. I called him last month to order another two knives and he told me it would be a 1 1/2 to 2 year wait because he is so busy. He also told me that he works till well past midnight many days during the week trying to get knives to people that have ordered them. I know Roger a little bit and I can tell you that he does great work and he's a hell of a good guy. He's busy, just give him a break and he'll get around to everyone.
You just need to remember, all the time he spends taking calls and answering e-mails he's not making knives.

Dont get me wrong, I have dealt with Roger before and he is as honest as the day is long, I was just getting peeved that after a year I was kind of expecting faster replies than 1 month.

Roger emailed me last night and gave me the lowdown on the schedule.
