Customer Service

Having worked in the service industry before, I learned the customer is always shite. Stop trying to game McDonalds, brandoak, ;)

Sometimes the public has had enough. A short walk down the road from me is a supermarket. I liked to shop there. Next to it was a McD. Rarely eat "fast food" but I would stop there for a snack before shopping. One afternoon I opened the door to the outer lobby. The stink was disgusting. Grease and unwashed floors.

Walked out and never went back. Got a small pie and a pint of milk from the market. Enjoyed that a lot more than McChicken. In the following months I noticed McD never had people at more than 3 tables, if that. Now they're gone. Not even the teens go there.

The liquor store next door took over their space :)

I saw your thread about the knife . I am glad blade HQ handled it . I alway knew they were top notch when a small relatively insignificant piece of my order was not there . In hindsight looking back I feel foolish for emailing them . It was a boker knife and they came with a red bag to put your knife in. Two days later it was at my house.

I'm 48 now. My dad was a Sergant in my local police force . He was OlD school. And I guess I would be considered that too. I like the way you handled the manager incident .. In a time when people are so lazy they destroyed the English language have holes in their shoes because they are to lazy to lift their feet when they walk and can't find the time to shave their weak attempt at faciial hair. In the past if that would have happened to me and my wife say it she would have rushed the kids out to the car .. Because she knows what's about to happen .. Times have changed . I respond more like you today . I have given up trying to save people from themselves and to "teach them the old school way" society sucks and the get it done mentality has given way to kids to stoned on high grade pot to give a shit and guys like us storing incidents in our memory banks. I'm sure the other generation felt the same.... What a insult ... Trying to get a free sandwich ..

"Who be nex". That pretty much sums it up in some parts of our society today. When people don't even care about using their own language properly, you are not going to get any pride, responsibility, or initiative to work hard to improve their lives. When, as a society, we accept this and enable it over years; we do more harm than good and over time will let it bring us all down. When one doesn't really care about themselves, surely we can not expect them to care about others - aka bad customer service and other things.
Anyway, good for BHQ.

In fairness the customers have gotten much worse than the customer service. Everytime i walk into a retail box store or restaurant i shake my head at how people act today. They expect free and more than they paid for, often to everytime. Its just sad. Review sites like yelp and such have allowed people to blackmail businesses for free stuff. Not stuff they paid for or deserve. It works both ways of course but the days of the customer is always right is over. It should be changed to the honest and reasonable/fair customer is always right. Cause the days of customers being reasonable and honest are mostly gone, sadly.

ya but that attitude usually belongs to the ones on government assistance, the ones with the "you owe me attitude" and more and more it also belongs to the younger crowd lately, the ones who were given a trophy even when they lost... They also belong to the "you owe me" group. The liberal public schools are a breeding ground for this "everyone's a winner" BS! ............ooops time to take to the old man pills again.... rant.....
 
Naw i see folks far older than me acting worse than the youth. It's not a one group issue. Its a cheaparse bad behavior disease that has spread to every generation, every group about equally.

The corporate big box stores started it allowing people to act this way, but finally the box stores are starting to stop it. Saw target has cracked down on the nonsense a bit. I expect that to spread.
 
My favorite transaction with McDummies to date:

Me: Can I get two double hamburgers ONLY ketchup and mustard.
McDummie: Sorry, what?
Me: Can I get two double hamburgers ONLY ketchup and mustard.
McDummie: Oh.... um... we uh, don't have any double hamburgers.....
Me: You're OUT of hamburgers?!
McDummie: No, I mean, we only have double cheesburgers....
Me: I see... well, can I get those without cheese??
McDummie: Yeah, sure, no problem!
Me: *head explodes*
 
Brandoak of course I was kidding in my last post but jbmonkey is spot on....across all social strata there are going to be some dicks.

Y'all need to start eating at Chik-Fil-A. Politics aside, they all are appropriately dressed, speak in clear, complete sentences, and smile while providing amazing customer service. And guess what.......their restaurants are PACKED every time I've been in one.

Amen Brian. They have definitely got it right. We have a couple by my house and they are always packed. The new one they just built has double drive through lanes that circle the premises because they are so busy. When more than 3 or 4 cars get in line, they send people outside to take your order, direct traffic, and expedite the service. It's awesome.
On top of that, the customer service all the way down here in Texas is exactly as you described where you are.
 
Same report on the Chik-Fil-A in Flowood, MS. The place always has about 15 or more employees working, always open additional registers and they are always nice. The drive through is always packed when I drive by, but they move them through.
 
Blade HQ are one of the best in the business in my experiences. I am happy to here this. On the other hand, Mickey D's has turned into a Volume food chain that is just that, Funny thing is I have had the same experience, only my burger contained a 8/32 nut, in which I promptly slammed down on. No damage done, and I did get another burger. I like yourself am reasonable, but if I heard the comment you did, I just don't if the result could have ever came out the same way. God Bless your strength, it would take a lot to overcome such a senseless remark by a manager.

Same in Alabama.

As far as McDonald's I have a story. Went to my local one to grab my kid a happy meal and get my wife something to eat .

I'm at the drive thru and the speaker is kind of cracking and popping , but I place my order . The order on the screen is not what I'm saying so I correct them . Again order is not right so I correct the girl again.

It's one of the 2 lane McDonald's and the person in the other lane darts ahead of me and leaves me stuck to where I'm maybe 5 ft past the speaker but car behind me can't order . I guess the girl taking my orders was new but she left the speaker on .

I heard talking but couldn't make it out but I heard "dumb a** white boy come through the speaker . I get to the window and I'm met with a very unfriendly girl the one I just heard say the little racist comment. I go to give her my money and my hand almost touches hers and she moves it real quick dropping all the change i was trying to give her . She looks at the ground and I kind of look at her and the ground and she replies Umm your short 67 cents . I replied it's on the ground you herded away from me and I can't open my door to get it . She kind of looks at me and rolls her eyes and slams the window shut and begins yelling at another employee about the change she dropped.

I get to the window and I'm given my kids drink so I'm trying to get it in the cup holder when all the sudden I'm cold and I'm wet . I basically got a large tea thrown into my car . I was messing with the cup holders as she was trying to hand me anot her drink and I wasn't even looking at her instead of waiting on me to clear my change out of the cup holder they dropped the tea in my window .

No apology nothing I ask for napkins because of the large tea all over me and I'm met with deep breathes and eye rolling . I'm usually not oNE to ask for a manager or try to get anyone in trouble on their job but I asked for a Manger this time .

Manager comes up and I pull forward and get out of the car to talk to him . I explain what happened and he kind of looked at me like I was stupid . I was getting nowhere with him so I let him know I wasn't a " white boy " or whatever I was called and got in my car and left .

Ended up calling corporate just because I had large sweet tea all over me during the summer in Alabama and I had to go to work . Ended up getting vouchers for the amount of the order but I gave them away and haven't been back to McDonald's since.

And Good For You! McDonald's is azz wipe company IMO. It is a joke in regards to the original firm. All the Calories there are trash in just about every way, so you have done yourself a service to the family that you can be proud of. Today America, if you can call it that is a fraction, a small fraction of what it used to be. We have become a society that McDonald's prey on literally for revenue, Look up equality for those who are puzzled by my comments. I hate to say it but, God Bless America in its rapid decline, its quite evident..... Sorry for the candor, but IMO It is Fact. Shame on us. TD
