Which knife companies do you think have the best customer service?

Do you have any horror stories or recommendations?

After viewing this video, I have to say I believe Cold Steel has the coolest and most interesting customer service department.

^That's just amazing.

Kershaw, Emerson, Strider, CRK, Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. Just have to remember that no company can be perfect everytime.

Actually, to be honest, one of the coolest customer service experiences I had was years ago with taylor cutlery when I didn't know anything about knives and thought smith and wesson knives were the best thing ever.

I talked to this one guy on the phone, and after a while, they let me send back a USED folder (that I had bought but then decided I didn't like) and swap it out for a brand new different folder of the same price.

Then I went and thanked them and sent them a nice email, and they sent me a hat!

Now granted, I was basically trading crap for more crap, but it was still cool of them to pay shipping and everything

on the other hand, I wanted to swap out a brand new benchmade minigrip combo edge for a plain edge, and they charged me 25 bucks for it, plus I paid for shipping both ways. The original lady I talked to on the phone said I could get exempted from that charge if it was found to be completely unused blade, otherwise I wouldn't have done it and just bought a new one. After they got it, I talked to a different person, and they made me shell out the 25 bucks.

Also, Emerson was pretty cool about it. I got a used CQC 8 from ebay, that I discovered had a stripped screw for the clip. I called them and they sent me a new one, free of charge, no questions asked. I got a few days later

Best CS? from what i hear, kershaw. they will send you little stuff with no questions asked, like torsion bars and stuff like that, but if you break the knife you have to send it back to them. once there, they will either replace the part or give you a new knife. basically, very, very good CS.

Worst of the Worst..
I actually recomended this guy a couple of threads back. Looked like a reputable site, with good $, so I posted it.
BOY, was I wrong!
The "custom sheath maker" was GAVCO custum kydex sheaths.
I tried to place an order with him. I asked some questions about options and costs. Normal stuff for a customer to ask, especially since I'm about to send money to a total stranger.
Well, he responds with "why are you asking me all these wierd questions", and on an on about he does not want to be bothered, and this is something he does as a hobby not a busnesss. Yet his site claims that he will make anything out of KyDex for you, custom blah bla.
I try to calm him down and let him know I am seious about a purchase.
He then accuses me of being some kid messing with him on the internet.....This is the wierdest experience I have ever had.
Well, I am 43 yrs years old, and work with children with special needs, and I am going back to college for a Masters in Occupational Therapy...I'm no kid, nor some dummy looking to mess with someone.
This guy should be avoided.
This is just in case one of you guys fing him on a search for sheaths and find him
BEWARE

Kershaw without a doubt. Ask for a replacement screw for pocket clip on XXX model and they send me all the screws plus a new pocket clip. They have sent me screws on model that have been long out of production such as Starky Ridge. The people on the phone and in email contact were very nice and professional , they knew what they were talking about.

I love Kershaw , they have a life long loyalty from me.

Kabar has the best customer service.....I lost 2 hex nut screws on my becker they sent them right to me no questions asked just 1 email.

Ontario has the worst.

That email contact us thing they is just for show, they DO NOT answer emails at all, not even check email or anything. Its a phone only operation two thumbs down.

FenixTactical in Canada is pretty good, they are responsive and answered my email on the weekend, very good service there.

Other than that I dont have many other experiences to share about this topic.

I've received great service from all the big ones - Spyderco in particular. But would like to give a tip of the hat to a smaller but extremely talented group of people I've not seen mentioned yet - Brous Blades. Quality products and, if something goes amiss, they fix or upgrade/replace with no questions asked.

Leatherman. I had an 8-year-old or so Leatherman tool that I broke one of the screwdrivers. I walked into the store, showed her the chipped screwdriver blade, and she handed me the newer replacement model. No question about was I the original owner, no questions about how it happened, all she asked me was if I needed a new sheath. I don't think there was even any paperwork involved, just "Here you go."
