It was just a folder and not a flipper. But it had some ivory in it which they said was illegal ( legal ivory with paperwork or any ivory is illegal in Canada). I could not get the knife returned to me.

Wow...man, I feel bad for you...:(

but BIG thanks for sharing the specifics...will put this under advisement for selling ivory/mammoth in the future!

^ :thumbdn: That's a bummer, R!

I've made so many changes, to who/where I sell anymore. The countries I've excluded dealing with, have nothing to do with the upstanding member's here; unfortunately, it has everything to do with the way some of these countries customs operate.

As a knife enthusiast, and a Patriot, this thread makes me feel even more thankful for the fact, that I live in the United States of America.

That Microtech Stitch I just received yesterday...I could just picture some Canadian Customs agent cutting that beast out of a sealed shipping box.

I wonder who's been carrying your knife, Colubrid? :surprise:

I agree with the members here having nothing to do with selling or buying from them personally. Just have to be careful how their countries operate.

I wonder where that knife is as well. It was a piece of art and somebody in Canada has it now.

I am not a big fan or Canada for many reasons. Their whole court system is the old English rule. Lawyers are called Barristers. Judges wear white wigs. I just had some bad (weird) experiences with them besides just the knife.

^ I hope that you don't have nightmares, R!

The rules for importing ivory into Canada are the same ones the USA follows. Sounds like you got blinded by dollar signs.

Stuff that gets seized gets destroyed.

Canadian judges don't wear wigs. So I'd guess that whatever bewigged characters gave you those bad experiences were involved in some sort of cosplay that went awry on your part. Sorry to hear that.

You assume that I sold the knife to someone. The knife was sent as a gift. It had my fathers name and my name on it and my sons name on it. It was for my son. So I was not "blinded by dollar signs".

M'Lord, if it pleaseth the court, I found the internet commonweal singularly barren of information that would fully satisfy your entreaty regarding all things wigish jurisprudential in the Canadas. However, I hereby reproduce that which could be gleaned and pray your indulgence in any seeming lack of diligence, which, I assure you, would be a description quite contrary to the substance of the deed. (The dearth of intelligence upon the matter is illustrated by my first example merely repeating that put forth by my learned colleague.

If your statement is accurate then my mistake. Your tale does stretch one's credibility on many points.

Everything else you and Kelama have posted is wrong, inflammatory and verging on political.

Pick a new spot to grind your axe(s).

whatever you say sir.
