Breaking News: We have recieved word that U.S. Customs & Border Protection has DENIED the numerous requests for extension that it had recieved and is planning to stick with the June 21 deadline for comments.

CBP's denial of an extension seems to be a clear indication that they do not intend to act in a fair and reasonable manner on this issue and have already made their decison to go ahead. That means we have to set the stage for the next act, which will likely be conducted both in court and in Congress. The battle is far from over, your comments will play a role in both efforts.

Knife Rights is developing a new comments letter for concerned knife owners to send to CBP and a strong email to send to Members of Congress. We are not about to roll over for this clearly out-of-control government agency.

We'll be posting new letters and additonal information in the next 24 hours.

This is incredibly disappointing.

I guess the pessimist in me expected this however.

Not very surprised sadly. Hope everyone gets their letter sent. I fear that even that will not matter.

They can raise oil and gas prices, they can murder many troops in iraq, but the government will NOT take away my F**king knife rights!! god damnit they want all of our fricking weapons. Are they afraid of us? What are they planning behind those walls?

If this law goes through, how long will it take this thing to reach full effect on the country? I don't exactly know how this works if they are successful.

It isn't a new law. It is customs interpreting a existing law in a different way. So in theory the hammer drops on the 21st I would think.

im a bit confused. i have read and reread the law that is trying to be passed and have several questions.
1) is the current issue that they are trying to classify all knives that can be opened one handed to be considered switchblades, and therefore subject to harsher laws? does it cover anything else at this moment? i underdtand it is the first step of a landslide, but i want to be sure i completely understand what is being discussed right now.
2) what exactly will now happen on june 21st?
im not trying to be a dumb#$@, i just want to be sure i know what exactly is going on.
thanks.

very unfortunate =/

I agree that a denial of an extension seems to indicate their goal. I can only hope that their is political pressure from the congress or that in the worst case this does not affect knives that have no spring assist in their opening.

I didnt know either.. check this out...

Hiya Doug,

First, let me say you do yomens work here!. Much obliged for all your efforts thus far!.. Looking forward to joining in on all your media protest devices as they become available here.

Just show me where to sign to protest and let my thoughts be heard.

Letters, Petitions, Emails, Telephones, whatever.. A show of hands in the proper venue is the only recourse we(all of us here) have here that will eventually become effective in our cause.

Best,

Anthony

PS: I had to edit, on this subject I guess you have to count me out .
Any subject to do with the "Constitution" and My "Bill of Right" there is no compromise, and if I can't express my feelings on the subject guess I don't belong here.

Wow this is very sad and I really hope we can all work together and protect our rights to carry these tools.

Mr. Ritter, thank you so much for all your hard work. Cheers!

Somebody should contact Ted Nugent. I bet he can get the ball rollin'. Seriously. Anyone know if he's been saying anything?

*insert any number of things to be said that cant be said right here*
