I was trying to close the knife, it slipped - cut the tendon in my right thumb (I'm right handed) Going for surgery on monday!:(

I may be paying for this, financially, with lost activities, and pain for a long time.

No I don't have any pics

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. :(
I dropped my BM41SS in my thigh awhile back. I feel for ya, heh.

Hope everything works out well...

And I'm glad you decided not to post pics. :barf:

Sorry to hear! They say that bugger is a cast iron B to close. Almost too secure a lock.

Not too hard to close it if you do it exactly as they show in the instructions, but one slip and ouch! Hope you get through it ok. My father in law just cut his thumb to the bone at work today, so he knows how you feel!:o

I'm sorry to hear it! I know how hard it is to close mine. It's tempting to grip it in the choil to close it, but cutting corners with that lock is scary. Good luck with the surgery, take it slow getting the thumb back to work.

There's one knife I won't be getting any time soon.

Sorry to hear the bad news. Hopefully all goes well and we see a full recovery.

Best wishes. The pocket Bushman is certainly dangerous if not closed properly.

Yeah, my Pocket Bushman bit me too.

A Military got by left thumb extendor tendon. Never have gotten full movement back. Hope your surgery goes well.

I don't either. If my hands are stiff or the knife is greasy, it's impossible to do it the "right" way.

That really sucks man, I'm very sorry to hear that. I sure you hope you get complete feeling/movement back in that thumb. You really don't think much about how important your appendages are until one is threatened. I realized that when I was younger and punched a glass beer mug

After seeing this knife in operation, I can see how the slightest mistake in handling can really get ya as it really closes with a snap. I've been cut quite a few times with my knives before I knew how to sharpen them and now I'm pretty scared to have anything like happen as it would probably mean automatic hospital visit/surgery.

Good luck brother.

I suspect the pivot location should be moved. Eccentric location and all that to lesson the closing bias.

I cut my first knuckle on my right index finger, still healing, luckily I missed the tendon, but hit the bone, and it's on top of the knuckle so healing was a bit slow.

I' m verry sorry to hear that, good luck with your surgery!
I only recently cut my index finger with a Spyderco Endura pretty bad, so I know how it feels not being able to hold a knife for a few weeks:(

How about a two-step lock? Pull the lock back to release the tang and it clicks into place in a lock safety allowing the blade to close. When the blade closes, it releases that secondary lock safety.

Very sorry to hear this, but have hopes for your quick and full recovery.

I am sorry to hear this!! I hope your surgery goes well, and you recover quickly.
