Cut the heck out of my thumb with a CS Pocket Bushman - wish me luck Monday - Surgery

I am glad that your surgery went well. I am sure your rehab will also go well.

I work with these kind of injuries all the time and let me tell you - the number one factor for your recovery is your commitment to rehab and the exercises. All my best to you! I cut the tip of my right ring finger off with my Sebenza not all that long ago..

Don't know the poster but I did mess up my right hand a few years ago, 40+ stiches, severed most tendons and a good amount of nerve damage. Good thing is tendons heals easily, nerves don't tend to do so well, my right hand has no sensation except for a small patch under my pinky. Bummer too cos its my wife's favourite hand.

Be religious with rehab, do the exercises they tell you to do especially to bring back key pinch strength. I'm Asian so I'm gonna advice getting some fish into your diet, it helps in healing; helped with my scars. Hand injuries are bad, it's one of the most complex structure on our body. Hope all goes well, I'm sure work and getting back to work is utmost on your mind but concentrate on getting well.

Take care and best regards...
Azad

I broke the little finger on my right hand a couple years ago. Actually, I pulverized the bone. I didn't have insurance so I couldn't afford the surgery it needed nor any type of rehab after it 'healed'. It still works pretty much but I can't close it all the way and it looks wrong. The worst part is some of my former favorite knives sit in drawers now because they don't feel right in my gimp grip. Good luck with your rehab. Hopefully you'll be back at %100.

OMG!!! Talk about your "Zombie"threads!!!

BTW, hope your doin fine!;)

I was trying to close the knife, it slipped - cut the tendon in my right thumb (I'm right handed) Going for surgery on monday!:(

I may be paying for this, financially, with lost activities, and pain for a long time.

No I don't have any pics

I owned one when they first came out - I owned it for about 5 days and then DUMPED it ASAP for the same reason. As well as not liking the handle [ hurts to use=steel ] hope you heal well and get rid of that stupid designed knife, and while your at it try sending a note to Lynn T. about his moronic design.

Man I feel your pain a few weeks back I had just finished sharpening our kitchen knives and got carried away cutting a onion and sliced the top of my thumb off, I didnt go to the hospital because I had a first responder medic kit at my house, funny thing is while my wife was freaking out and screaming from the blood spurtin out, I was more worried about getting blood on the nicely cut onion I just chopped up to use for season for our dinner... I still play with blades, maybe one day i will learn my lesson.... But seriously I hope your surgery goes well and does not cost you too much.....

I have experienced a three major accidents (tablesaw, router table and knife), and my grandmother had a knife accident that severed a tendon, which surgeons tried several times to fix, unsuccessfully. I won't bore you with my limitations as a result of accidents. I will just say: get the very best surgeon with a proven track record as a hand specialist that you can find. It makes a world of difference.

The first time I saw how this knife was designed to close. I knew it was an accident waiting to happen.

Seriously flawed design IMO.

Hope you heal quickly.

Get rid of that knife!

That's OK, don't need the pics. Have seen plenty of mayhem already in my life.

Just hoping you'll be alright. Hang in there ... keep the faith, as they say.

I've had mine since it came out and haven't had a problem yet. You just have to focus on what you're doing AND use a safe method of closing it and you'll be fine. There are just more dangerous ways to close it than there are safe ones, it seems. :o

I swear more guys cut tendons closing knives than using them.
I have worked on dozens of injuries like that in the slaughterhouse, don't rush the rehab at the start, tendons have little blood flow and take a lot of time to knit.
good luck man and get rid of that crappy knife.
