Ohhhhh, so that's what it is -- yeah, I'll want one or two of those too. Can we get a price break for half a dozen? :D

Glenn,
Thank-you, I think I could even figure out how to use that from the picture....or...I'll call ya!

Dwight (Zerogee), I'm in for a couple for the discount :D

You guys are the best!

John R. Fraps, If you could send me a pic or sample of you piece you need replaced, I would be glad to look at doing that for you. The stiddy will be hardened to 50-60 range. I going on the advice of my heat treater. Probally will end up making these from 4140. Not sure yet. The one you see is at the machinest getting the holes and slots. I'm thinking of offering the base with your logo or name cut in it. On the spreader, I'm still working on it. The material is not here yet. It will get the same treatment as the stiddy. I'll post pics soon. Thanks, D.C.

Make sure you get the HT thru and thru on that cutlers steady/stiddy/anvil/hard thingy to lay knives on and whack with a hammer. We checked the Rc on mine(made from T1 armor plate) and it is right at 52. So, Rc52-54 would be optimum. I think Rc60 out on the thin end would be too hard and make it easy to break.

I have been looking for a good stiddy for quite awhile. Keep me in mind when/if you make some of these. They look pretty good. I too would want mine about 52 rc hardness.

Igot the prototype back from the machine shop. Looks great!. The heat treater is looking at it now and I will post pics tonight.

Heres a couple of pics. The half round in the rear is .375", the holes are .125", .187" and .250. The step is .375" and the front slot is .375"x.750. It has 2 .375" tapped holes on the bottom for the bast to bolt on. I will know more from heat treat tomorrow.

Finally completed costing and materials. The stiddy will be made from S-7 and heat treated to 54rc. Everything else is the same specs as ealier. I will offer these two ways. One is with a plain base for $350 and the other is with the base engraved with your name or logo for $375. I'm buying a 12ft. bar of S-7 for this so I would like to do a down payment of half for each order. I can get 28 parts from one flat. I will wait till there is enough orders built up so I get a price break on heat treat and machining. I am taking orders now. As of now, 2 are spoken for. Please use my e-mail for orders. Thanks, David.

How long is it overall? How long is it from the step to the rear? I'm guesstimating that it's about 6 in long overall and about 4 in from rear to step.

:thumbup:That's a great looking stiddy. This is a handy tool that every knifemaker should have. Congrats on getting the particulars lined out on it.

Thanks Kerry. I think this will be a great tool that is very usefull and can be handed down for generations.

A little more than I can afford right now :(
Nice tool though! I will be ordering one eventually once the heating season is over
