Cutler versus Knives?

The knives should go through a final inspection and release step. The name of the person who released the product for sale or their signature should be on the certificate. I think a signature is a nice touch, only takes 3 seconds to do.

The cards have not had signatures after they switched over to the latest card design somewhere around 2016, not sure on the exact date but just going by some cards that have passed through my collection.

Aha! So they made that move already. Cool.

Anyone notice that the ones with "Cutler" on them have a signature that doesnt stay with the lines of the box? I am very new to CRK but I saw a video where they said that the cutler versions were a little suspicious. If you look where the signature crosses over the line there was some separation and looked funny. But after the response above from CRK I am left wondering.

Chris was using “Cutler” back before the Sebenza was even a glint in his eye......
There are many genuine knives and some fakes out there, but. Don’t believe the BS that because a knife card has the word cutler instead of knife maker on it it has any relevance. Paperwork is all very nice but concentrate on the important bit. The knife!

Just to make a point. This card is from 1984. Yes 84!

These cards harken back to the day when Chris was a custom knife maker and made everything himself.

It was common practice for members of the Knifemakers Guild of South Africa to provide a certificate or card with each knife with the knife's vital statistics. Often these certificates have the KGSA logo on them.
KGSA members still do it today.

Chris used the term "Cutler" for years. (FYI he made some beautiful table cutlery and carving sets)

After Chris Reeve (custom) Knives became a factory and ultimately CRK, the cards continued but changed and morphed.

2015 seems about the time Chris retired and left. So the obvious inference is that the current management decided to standardise and update.
