Cutting down trees with a Mora

Great video! Thanks for sharing. If that was a mora in the second bit, I'm impressed it handled that use!

Welcome to BF by the way!

Very impressive  especially considering that it's a Mora being used.

That is amazing! Axe schmax!

I would not have thought the handle on that would take that kind of pounding. Very impressive.

Wow. I mean, wow. I just saw it done, but I sure wouldn't do it with one of my knives.

I need to get one of those wonder-knives! :D

The first technique blows me away. It looks effortless.

Cody Lundin covers that first technique in 98.6 degrees: The Art of Keeping Your Ass Alive!. Using a (What else?!) Mora !

Not saying you stole the idea or anything. Just stating it for anyone else who loves that book as much as I do. ;)

Good video though. The second technique is pretty interesting.

I can tell you where I learned both techniques. I took a class from Mors Kochanski. He covers this and alot of other info in his book Northern Bushcraft.

I know he is hated and reviled here, but Bear Grylls does it all the time. I tried it myself after seeing him do it with a small knife. I did it with a Mora 2000. It wasn't hard at all. It's amazing what a little technique can accomplish with minimal tools. Good video.

This dude knows his stuff. You should check out his other vids when you get a chance. Definitely worth the time.

I think the tree was pre-cut and this was a hoax. A lil' ol' Mora could NEVER do that! Just kidding another great video from a real woodsman. *tips hat*

Without getting into a messy "pro baton vs. anti baton" camp debate, what are thoughts on abuse here?

The knife is not being flexed by knots in the grain, so it may be safer?

1st method no problem, second method can shatter a handle. Never had a Mora handle break, but I have broken Ontario USAF Survival knife.
