CZ P07 Duty or Sig 229 DAK?

I don't know if it's relevant but the Sig is one of several LEO trade in 229s. I have heard the LEO Sigs didn't suffer the QC problems.

That said the QC problem seemed to be talked about by all and experienced by none. I just spent 2 hours reading on 3 other forums about it and couldn't find but a couple actual complaints from first hand users. One suffered a broken trigger spring in the first box of ammo. One sent a gun in for a action job and it came back with no work done. I really have to believe this is mostly Internet hype perpetrated by a few failures of the 939 and the trigger recall on the polymer sig plus some parts going mim. But I will continue to try to find out about this. If you have personal experience please share it.

By the way I will not by a Glock. I've owned em and every one plunks me in the face with brass. I think Xd is ugly, grip safety is ridiculous (was only put on 1911 for calvary if I remember correctly) and if I wanted a Glock I would get a Glock. I have no experience with the Smith and will not judge it until I get to the range to shoot one on rental.

My experience with CZ is limited to their rifles, but I can tell you they're fantastic!! Fit/finish is outstanding, action is flawless, and accurate as hell!
Got my wife a CZ527 and lemme tell you, she's Annie-Oakley with that little rifle. :D

Haven't fired any of the newer non-German-made SIG's, so I don't know. I'm on a 1911-A1 kick myself right now... :D

gixxer, there is a fix for the brass to face issue you are referring to with Glock's if we're talking 9mm. Apex Tactical's Failure Resistant Extractor will solve that issue for about 99% of the Glock 17 and 19's out there.

I would not advise going with the .40 S&W CZ P-07 as there's been reliability problems with them quite often, the 9mm ones seem to be the best bet at this point since CZ designs for 9mm first. I'm also not very impressed with Sigs, especially for the money. Also, good luck getting them to fix your pistol if it poops the bed as I've heard their Customer Service isn't so good.

CZ on the other hand has awesome customer service and makes a very high quality firearm for the money. The P-07 has wonderful ergonomics and the 2014 version of the pistol features many of the new features that were introduced on the P-09, I'd look for one of those vs. the 2013 and older production models.

I own both German made and USA made Sigs, as do many other people that I know. No one seems to have problems with them. Wide variety of shooters, from people that go to the range once a year ( legal must here if you own a hand gun) to absolute blastaholics.....

I bought my first Glock last October. 17 gen4.... The first production of gen4 had its problems (mostly a main spring problem, just make sure you've got the upgraded one). Fixed by now. The conpanie's reputation is solid, my G17 has about 500 rounds of cheap ammo fed through it without one little problem. About 50 of those were hollow points.... But remember,Nothing made by man won't fail at some point.

It comes down to one thing..... To each his own:)

My Glocks where both 40s. The CZ that I'm looking at is the extended barrel 9mm. The sig is 40. Both are used. I have no doubt the quality of CZ. Just wanted some first hand reviews.

IVE hade both and can asure you cz hands down!!
I had zero issues shooting all types of ammo in my P-01.
Also accuracy is the best I have ever shot with the CZ.
MY next gun will b another CZ.For price savings you can get a custom holster made.

I have a CZ 75B and love it!! Great guns for the money for sure!! I don't think you can go wrong with the CZ

Good Luck!!

I have a P226 and P239, zero problems. Alien gear holsters. Heck the SEALs like em. Pick em up, let you hand make up your mind for ya.

I just picked up the CZ P-07 Duty with extended barrel and night sights a few weeks ago. I haven't been to the range to run some rounds through it yet but I have no doubt that the gun will work as well as my CZ 75 and CZ97, both which are fantastic. I will caution you to check and see if the decocker piece comes with the version you are buying because the one I bought through one of the major Outdoor Outfitter stores did not come with the gun, I had to buy it from CZ for $30. I own a Sig220 and it's a great gun, as are most Sigs, but I would save the cash and get the CZ.

The price isn't that differnt. CZ is $550 Sig is $630. But I found a P226 TA OPS for a little more than I want to spend but it's in 9 which I like. It comes with 4 20 round mags, the SRTT trigger, night sights, and holsters are everywhere. I'll go shoot em when I get home in a week.

For what it is worth I just picked up a used HK usp compact 40 for my dad off one of the gun auction sites for 650 a few weeks ago. Yeah it was used but in good shape.

To answer your question simply,

I have shot both firearms in question and my vote would go to the CZ. Cant say anything bad about the Sig it just didnt fit me well. If you can, handle both of them. Your hand will choose for you.

Well against all advise I went Sig 229 DAK, but partially because the CZ was gone, partially because after shooting my buddies SP01 I discovered that the safety location bothers me, and partially cause the sig shot lights out. I got my pic of 6 used 229s and went thru em all checking frame wear, fit and finish and trigger pull. Found one that has a 6# trigger pull and looked brand new inside. Paid a very fair price and put 200 rounds thru it yesterday with out a hiccup and with as good as accuracy as I can produce. Pretty happy with it. Thanks for the recommendations and pics.

Well I shot a CZ SP01 today. I should have 3 weeks ago cause I would have gotten one. You guys were totally right. Complete awesomeness in pistol form.

One important thing you'll need to learn about SIG's DAK action (in case you haven't heard about this) is that it has two trigger reset points. If you let off the trigger after the shot breaks and only reset to the first reset point, you get a heavier trigger pull that's something like 8-8.5 lbs. You're only gonna get the 6 lb pull when you reach the second reset point. This is something that you're gonna have to spend a lot of time getting used to if you want to be able to shoot accurate double-taps and rapid strings. If you ever feel the need, you can always have it converted back to DA/SA.
