D-2 or ZDP-189

Also with Spyderco ZDP-189 you may got some knife with poor heat treatment

I guess that's a possibility. I see others like Ankerson who are able to cut cardboard into confetti and still slice paper cleanly, so there must be some advantage to this steel (if not for me, then for everyone else.) But if I tried to do that with either of my 2 ZDP knives, the edge would be completely, 100% dead after just cutting the flaps off of the boxes.

Lately I see some problem with Spyderco Japanese manufacturing which responsible for ZDP189 knives production:
1. Uneven edge on Walker ZDP-189.
2. Pure heat treatment on Mule ZDP189 (I see Tazkristy post on Spyderco Forum) so they stop selling it at some point.
3. Poor heat treatment on my Chinese.

Probably I just need to test Chinese to verify brittleness.

Thanks, Vassili.

Well I have to agree with that. The ZDP Endura (saber grind) I had had a normal grind on one side and a noticeably shallow grind on the other. The lock bar also sat very high, as in not being flush with the tang when locked open.

Also, I think I've only had 1 Seki knife with a centered blade. If I were to show you a pic of the centering of the blades of all my Spydercos today, the only one with a centered blade would be the Military.

Those are measurable F&F items, though. I can't know for myself whether they're dropping the ball on the steel, too.
