Part of my Forged in Fire qualification process was to prove I could build a blade longer than 15 inches, so I built this sword. This blade is a full 20 inches of forged Dodge leaf spring steel. The D guard is blued mild steel, and the handle is a great piece of osage, bodark, or bois d' arc, depending on what you call it where you're from. While this knife isn't an exact copy of a particular historical piece, it is styled after the Georgia army Confederate artillery sword. The blade is sharp on top and bottom edges, and has a forged in distal taper and a 400 grit hand finish. Overall length is 25 inches. Weight is 2 pounds 2 ounces. Maker's mark is inside the D guard. This piece was photographed by Chuck Ward and published in the July 2018 Blade Magazine, page 69. Price is $1200.
