D2, A2 or O1 for outdoors/bushcraft applications?

I have a 3/16 thick 9 3/4" custom in A2 it has a big wide 5" FFG blade- the maker said he sends them to a company for HT. I have owned this knife for over 2 years. It has been out on several trips and used for everything from food prep to chopping. I'd say light/medium duty tasks. I have oiled the blade and used green compound on a strop and the original edge is back to new! No rolls or chips and will shave with ease.

I have similar results with my Blind Horse Bushcrafter in 01. It seems that the 01 blade stained easily and took a patina almost instantly. My wife cut up some potatoes in Yellowstone one evening and thought she ruined her knife. I didn't know it would take so quickly. It looked great though. :D

I am a knife user, not a collector. Nothing sits in the gun safe for very long.
