I like the Comp-Tac Paddle for OWB / competition carry. It sits tight where I want it and draw is fast with my 1911. I haven't used this one, but a friend of mine uses a Desantis Intimidator for woods / range open-carry and likes it quite a bit.

Awesome, thanks. Someone also mentioned the Comp-Tac as well. How easy is it to draw? My fear with level I holsters is that it's either too easy to draw and the pistol will drop, or that it's too hard to draw and gets stuck. I like an easy draw with the reassurance of level Ii keeping it in.

I carry my 1911 in condition 1 in it. It has good solid retention, but I never have to jerk it to get it out. (yeah, dirty, I know) I swore off Blackhawk and Uncle Mike's stuff a while ago because all their safety gizmos and gimmicks just seemed to be more to think about and cause more room for error. These are simple and they work. Kinda sounds like a Becker.

I have a desantis leather holster with a plastic paddle for IDPA (1911).
A Mernickle FC2 for a Blackhawk.
Bunch of home-made for other hanguns, all full-coverage, including trigger (one for the 1911 too).

Frankly, for a range queen, I think it's an unneccessary expense. Pick a pistol or two to compete with, a discipline (IDPA, USPPA, CAS, actual CCW) and then gear up for that specifically. Of course who doesn't love a matching holster they don't 'need' for their favorite pistola? (see blackhawk reference above)

At the range, I prefer pistols to be on the bench and visibly clear when not being shot, or when the range is cold. Of course your range(s) may demand different protocols.

Just my $0.02, which may or may not apply to your requirements.

Agreed. It seems to take at least $50 to get a decent holster, at which point most of them are pretty good. From there up to $150 it's options, finish, and availablility. Over $150 it's window dressing. And there are plenty of custom craftsmen within that range.

Below $50 pretty much dictates cheap labor, mass production, and lousy materials. And then you're taking chances with a loaded gun...

My back hurts. Needed to reset my bridge today, after a flood.

Then I mowed the yard. Now, my back is filing for workmen's comp, I tried to tell it, we don't offer that, so, it says it will just sit there and hurt in protest.

That is all.

Damn Moose, that makes me throw up in my mouth a little. This time last year we were sandbagging.

Sheesh, Moose. Hope nothing was damaged too badly.
This time last year, there was a massive flash flood that washed out a road and put the river out of its banks and over the bridge.
It has been freakishly dry around here so far this year.

Moose I thought bridges were suppose to traverse the body of water. That looks more like a dock than a bridge.

nice Moose. I need to construct a firepit for the yard. been too long since I sat around a good campfire

I have 3 fire pits on my property. I have fires just about every week, year round. And I have a wood birning stove.
