That little HF sanders is actually pretty decent. I gave one to my dad and have used it a few times, but am thinking about getting one for my house, too.

What kind of Rockwell do you get out of a wet dream? Just curious.

Belt changes take seconds, and you adjust your pressure hydraulically, so, you can tension that belt to make a flat grind if you wanted. And really make whatever convex angle you want, steep to slight.

Hell yeah.

I can normally get a Rockwell 94 during a wet dream... However it's incredibly brittle!

I like vintage stuff. It hearkens back to a day when things were built to last.
I have some old rototillers that were in my yard when i moved in and I thought "wow those are so old I'll bet they still work " and they do! 1950s rotoettes pretty cool actually!imo

That looks freakin awesome, love it.

Wow, that's a great old tiller. I love resurrecting old machines too. Here's a 1938 Gallmeyer & Livingston band saw before I restored it. I use it all the time now.

that's nice, funny how the older, the more chance it works. a testament to a job done well!

For all you fans of choppers and fighters, the knife maker's exchange has been buzzing with great new offerings. :D

Nice machines, fellas. Very cool. I'll bet you guys could keep those things going forever with a little duct tape and JB Weld. :D

Great old machines.
Put in about 15 miles of urban hiking today. Took some nice shots up around Stanley Park. Will try to post some pics later.

finally got around to pimpin out my 2 . Im very pleased with the results. And Im getting better at sharpening thank gawd. I can pushcut and slash paper with my 2 now...not ''surgical'' like some of y'all can get 'em, but a serviceable user edge.

The pic with the other files isn't on my server, but tht half-round bastard is what I use for coarse, aggressive shaping. I usually shape the oversize scale slabs to the tang first with the disc on my sander. Then those marks have to be cleaned out of the tang too, along with finishing the scales. If you're doing bolt-ons you can shape, fit, shape, fit to avoid beating up the tang.

Note the blade is wrapped in several layers of painters tape and I've got a folded piece of thick leather btw the vice jaws and the blade.

Thanks Daiz...I need to invest in a set soon. Looks like it's doing a hell of a job on that micarta!

Yeah. The nice thing about files is that they run cool, unlike a powered belt. Dull, fine, or slow belts can overheat micarta, turn it gummy, and give it a burn. Then you need to sand it out anyway.

If anyone is looking to do a lettering / etch project on their knife, I'll offer my services to the BK&T forum. I can cut custom paint masks with lettering or graphics of your choice. Through the end of April, I'll do these for free as a token of my appreciation for the great group we have here!

Thanks Ethan, your knives are designed well and just plain work!
