That should work great thrill, I have the bigger version of that one(Ithink), mine is a rikon(or something like that)

It's a 1''x30'' harbor freight model. I dunno how long it will last (not a HF fan) but for the low price-point I'm sure I will get my money out of it.

Just curious, but why would you get a bigger one? Unless you are moving into mainstream knife making, I don't see much that that little booger can't do. Even for some heavy mods, get the right belt on there, and whoop some ass.

Just for the record, I want Bob Dozier's designed grinder. Holy shit.

That's what I just finished my micarta scales with,I figured it cost about the same price as a set of scales, try making some and if you like it move up!

That thing is awesome. For three grand, it better be.

Got one I use all the time for small jobs. Nothing wrong with it all.

I am trying to get into knife making, and mine something like 1x42. When I got it it seamed like the best option, the smaller one had a stamped case n mine is cast. That grinder looks sweet though

For the record, I've done some frightful stuff with my 1x42.
However....
If you want to actually profile a knife, it's better to have a contact wheel.
You can grind bevels on small knives on a platen like that.
Reason to go bigger is: MORE ABRASIVE. More SPEED which RIPS the metal off. AND it doesn't bog down.
BUT! You can do a surprising amount with a little grinder like that! ooh yeah.
Oh, and here's a tip: buy lots of belts, and use them. Don't try to make your first 60grit last forever, you'll just waste your time and get frustrated. After you wear it real good, put it aside and use it for finer stuff. Then throw a fresh one on.

My next grinder will likely be a KMG. Already got a motor I think will work...

it worked well on my grivory too...I smoothed out my heavy handed stippling some. feels nice now

Damn I NEED that grinder. That's gotta convex like a wet dream

What kind of Rockwell do you get out of a wet dream? Just curious.

Belt changes take seconds, and you adjust your pressure hydraulically, so, you can tension that belt to make a flat grind if you wanted. And really make whatever convex angle you want, steep to slight.

Hell yeah.

for 3 grand it SHOULD do anything I want it to! LOL

I think I will stick with my 50$ one for now ;)

me using a 3,000$ tool at my current skill level would be like a kindergartener paying for Harvard dues!
