My daughter is why I'm on this board. She is now two years old and when I first found out I was having a daughter I started researching tools and skills that are important to have in an emergency situation, obviously a good blade is one of them for reasons we all know. It also reignited the little boy in me that used to sharpen popsicle sticks on the sidewalk. I used to sometimes carry a cheap Walmart Gerber on me with my wallet phone and keys. Now I carry a Fenix LD10, Streamlight Nanolight, BM Mini-Barrage or another knife from my collection, Paracord bracelet, and a Leatherman Juice S2 in addition to wallet phone and keys. Now I know I can light our way off of the freeway if the car breaks down in the middle of the night, cut her car seat belts if I need to get her out of the car, tie a makeshift sling or make a temporary shelter. I really want to invest in a gun but I have mixed feelings about keeping one in the house, also my SO is not too keen on firearms.
Anyways, sorry to ramble but I wanted to share how much being the daddy to a baby girl (they're always a baby girl even when they're not the baby part) changed how I aproach day to day life (in a great way).
