Anyone on board collect daggers? If so, what are some good models and companies to check out.. I have the 175 from benchmade and i love this model. I was wanting to check out some others as well..

Daggers? Old Gerbers are awesome collectables... AG Russell Sting, the old ones are really collectable, there's a new version, too. John Ek fighting knives... Sykes-Fairbairn knives...

i've got a few dont really collect them though, the two best imho are my dads nazi "SA" dagger he brought back from WW2 and my gerber Mk11 i bought new in '71,

I like some daggers. I don't collect them, and I think they're a waste on a folder, except as an SD knife, which I try to avoid due to legal issues.
I like my daggers a little wider, but still pointy. IMO, the CS Tai Pan is an awesome cutting and stabbing dagger, but I also REALLY like the Randall toothpicks for the cool factor. I also have an odd fascination for long fighters, that may or may not be classified strictly as daggers, like the Dan Harrison speed fighter, the Keating Crossada, and the fallkniven mine clearance knife.
I only own a Tai Pan, and a Strider mine clearing knife though.....
But I have a couple of others, one is a really nice wide Bill Siegal dagger!
I got for $60 as a special, from his "garage sale"!
One of my first knives was an authentic WW2 fairbairn sykes commando dagger!

The Sykes/Fairbairn Commando Dagger is one of my favorite knives, I really don't collect them but I have two mid-1980's UK govt. contract knives.

I like them for their historic value not to carry.(they're illegal to carry in NY).
I also have few dagger style folders with the false upper edge....

Here's one of my commando daggers with a British Enfield Rifle.

They are pretty much usless from a utilitarian point of view.

That being said I collect them and slipjoints (mostly handmade).

I consider those two types of knives in general the hardest for a maker to make well.

Nice british enfield rifle.. shoots the .303 round doesnt it?;) i saw one in our local shop here the other day....

dagger styled folders? i have never seen these....

Thanks, yes the Enfield fires a .303 cartridge ( similar to an American .30-06), kicks like a mule ( to me anyway), but it shoots great. I saw one a few weeks ago at Gander Mountain that looked brand new, mine has been around the block a few times....

I have a Gerber Applegate Fairbairn Knife, I bought it because it reminded me of a commando dagger and Col Applegate's involvement at the time.

This pic is from Gerber's site. Mine is almost 10 years old, made in the US and very good quality. I can't vouch for the quality of the new ones...

The BMade 530 is one of my favorite knives; a dagger-style axis lock folder. Lightweight and ultra thin it literally disappears in your pocket.

**WARNING** **WARNING** **WARNING**

As I have come to find out dagger style knives are definitely not sheeple friendly. They should only be used around people that appreciate knives. I wasn't naive in assuming people wouldn't be a little startled when they saw me use the 530. But instead of being startled, one of them was downright shocked. I made the mistake (only once) of using my BMade 530 in front of non-knife people. It's amazing how big some people's eyes can get.

Also, for those of you familiar with axis locks, you'll know that you can fire the blade of axis-lock BMades into the locked position in about half a second. I use the 530 enough that I get immune to the fact that the 530, when fired into the lock position by a quick thumstud action, can look like an OTF auto. This could be very unsettling to some people.

I have a bit of an itch for Applegate Fairbairn daggers, specifically the Blackjack models. Always on the lookout for a Al Mar A/F in either the "christmas tree handle" or the normal lead weighted handle.

Sykes Faribairns are fine daggers as well.

The problem is I almost never carry them, they are legal to carry unconcealed but sheeple issues prevent there carry.

Yes the 530 is very nice, I saw one for the first time a few weeks ago, definitely smaller than I thought it would be from pictures. But I mean that in a good way... very slim and compact.

Here's a link for a picture...
