Daggers & Spear-Points

Think the only spear point I have left is an old CRKT M21-04. Have a Benchmade SOCP, but it sure ain't a spear point any more!

Oh, and an old Camillus boot knife.

Me myself, I think the spear point is probably the nicest shape out there. And it offers the opportunity to sharpen the swedge. Both my Harsey's are almost there, they are sharpened to a point where just a little work with a hone will have the top edge sharp. Not quite, and not dangerous as they are now. But OH SO CLOSE! ;-)

Very nice, but aren't those both sabre ground drop points with a swedge? My impression of a spear point is that it is symmetric, with a point aligned with the centerline of the blade....like "in the middle from top to bottom." Maybe I'm confused...wouldn't be the first time!

I'm also curious...isn't a folder with a sharpened spine a problem? Seems like one would have an exposed edge.

Who doesn't like a good dagger? This baby was my very first high-end production knife. It started my addiction

Asymmetrical spear point? Who knows, I always considered them spear points. The Al Mar Big SERE folders that were out in the 80's and 90's were considered spear points. The blade looked no different than the Harsey's. Also the spine is not fully sharpened. It is right there, almost sharpened. But not enough to cause harm if the top of my hand rubs against it while clipped in my pocket. Now, if I carried it via the sheath it came with, I'd probably go ahead and fully sharpen it. But I carry it via the clip, so I will never fully hone it.

In this fleabay ad, it is listed as a spear point. Jeez, to think I paid $200.00 for mine, and could possibly sell it for this? That description fits mine to a T. Titanium frame and lock. Mine has linen micarta scales though, not FRN. Just wow! Maybe I oughta not carry it any more. Nah, I like it too much.

My first dagger type blade!

I went with the Bayonette grind for 2 reasons (I wish MT would do the top / short edge serrated):
1. Looks really cool
2. Can place thumb on the flat top portion for "finer work" / more control in EDC type tasks. (might be cool if i could get someone to jimp that portion)
*Not in that order..lol

I still LOVE the 530CF, i need to pick one up!

So I was looking at the 530 in the store today and the wife liked it, so we both got one. My wife even had a butterfly put on her thumb!

there are more spear points being carried than we're led to believe.
case in point, the main large knife blade found on the wenger brand swiss army knife.
I favor the patented packlock versions which as the name suggest, is a locking system.

Hi all,

A bunch of beauties in this thread...

Here's an old pic of two of my steels, a trusty old F/A covert and the Parabellum Dagger by my good friend David Serrat.

The F/A is in my current folder EDC rotation, though I tend to prefer fixed blades. I consider it a good knife, and it has served me well without complaining.

The Parabellum Dagger is less of an EDC knife (:D), because it's bigger and a little scary... Acid treated carbon steel, black micarta with white liners. Beautiful, and amazing performance in barbeques!! ;) .
