That's a pretty aggressive looking knife. You don't want to perpetuate the negative image the majority of people have of this hobby...

Troll stalking me now eh?
Very childish, I had you pegged as a cantankerous troll a while back and you never fail to deliver.

For anyone else reading this and confused the comments from allhss are off topic and a snipe at me following his troll sniping at me in another thread.

No, I'm not trying to troll or anything at all, or even put you down as a member/enthusiast/person. I like dagger/spear point blades and am subscribed to this thread, so I just saw your post here and remembered how badly you thought of the cold steel dagger. I don't really know how you pegged me as a troll from that other thread, but I was actually legitimately surprised that you own a knife like that when you felt so strongly about the dagger blade of the cold steel. I do not want to have an argument at all, I'm not into that, but I would be interested in your philosophy behind putting down an excited knife enthusiast for one dagger blade then posting in a thread about them (and spear blades). Again, I do not want to argue. I also don't want to derail this thread and get it closed, cause like I said, I like this thread. If you have the time/motivation I would honestly be interested in your philosophy behind this and would enjoy a pm on the subject. I give you my word that I will honor your opinion and not reply in any derogatory manner.

I have started to love daggers (as you will clearly see), especially ones with skulls and chains on them! (this one of my first custom daggers)

To hell with those who don't understand. I refuse to bow down to the "Politically Correct Crowd" They should all become violent crime victims so they will stop with the flowers, rainbows a fluffy kitten $hit. Real men carry knifes, bad ass's carry bad ass knives. if they don't approve..... too damned bad.

It is? Looks like a pretty general utility/EDC type knife to me, how is it any more aggressive than any number of Kershaw's lineup? Are you referring to the (admittedly goofy) skull near the pivot and the uhh, thing(dragon head maybe?) on the clip?

I regret posting in response to jaytaylor. It honestly surprised me he would post in this thread because of sentiments he had made clear in other threads. I don't actually think that knife is overly aggressive, but it does have am aggressive "attitude" with the skills and spear point that seemed out of place with his negativity stance on knives that can be intimidating to non knife people. I was really hoping to receive a pm from him explaining his philosophy (especially since the cultures of where we live are so different), but I haven't yet. As I said, I don't want to derail this thread so let's just get back to spear/dagger points. I should have one coming in the mail tomorrow! ill post a picture (it may not be received well though).

SOCP question , wouldn't that be illegal in a lot of states ? ( not living there currently ) it is a beautiful looker and not having seen one before my first reaction is to order one :p
I was always partial to the sykes faibairn dagger , are any of those around these days ?

great topic !

Good call on spear points and great set of knives! I have long been in search of a nice defensive carry with a fat, broad dagger blade, much like the original Cold Steel ones. The closest I have come to the ideal in my head is this one, made by TwinBlades:

As I understand them, the Pennsylvania laws on double sided blades are murky. They are not expressly illegal but they could be considered an "offensive weapon". I don't know much about elsewhere. (if I'm wrong please correct me). I know Boker still makes faith fairborn Applegate daggers. I can't speak to their quality though, I don't have one.

The SOCP is technically a double edged dagger (even though only partial), so yes it would be illegal in some more liberal states.. However, I ordered mine w/out any government ID code, and it shipped w/ no hassle..

I say pick one up ;) I found a good spot for mine for the time being - clipped to my drivers side sun visor.. If you’re a law abiding citizen, no one will ever know what’s on you *wink *wink

...
I'm also curious...isn't a folder with a sharpened spine a problem? Seems like one would have an exposed edge.

On some, like this Applegate-Fairbairn Folder, the sharpened spine rests entirely inside the handle when closed...

It will still be illegal to carry(but not to own) in many non-liberal states. Can't legally carry it in Texas either, and we're not exactly a liberal state.
