Daily Knife and Gun preference

No, I meant his specific location, since he said he has a "daily gun preference".

It is important to note that "low crime" does not equal no crime, and that "low crime" does not equal less dangerous crime. Low crime simply implies low frequency. IE, in a town that averages 1 murder per year, somebody needs to defend themselves from a killer every year, and the inability to do so results in 100% death-- there is no "low death", only death.

The odds of anyone needing a weapon are very low, especially in areas with low frequency of crime. I live in one of those places. I *have* defended my life with a firearm. Had I carried every day and never needed to, that would have been OK. Had I not been carrying when I needed to, I wouldn't be posting this, and my kids would be without a father.

Nice stuff friends. Keep em coming. I like the weekend carry ideas.

I can't carry at work, but when I'm off the clock, I carry a Bersa BP9cc and a Kershaw RJI. (If I'm out hiking, it's either a Steyr M9 or Sig SP2022 and a fixed blade, but that's another story.)

Another favorite pair. A bit smaller

Is there a lot of crime in the area you live in?

My area? Let's see, I was kidnapped twice on the same year, half a block away from a police station, and that was in the safest neighbourhood in town. My house and my mother's car were shot up by corrupt policemen. I had to keep looters away with my shotgun during a power outage last summer (blackouts are common in summer). I could go on and on.

Even when at my ranch in the mountains, which is quite safe, I like to keep a few guns close by. Usually my GP-100 on my hip and either a rifle or shotgun in my saddle.

Bersa Thunder 380 Combat and an S30V Build-a-Griptilian.

My girlfriend lives close to the Bersa factory, and a good friend of mine was the plant manager for a few years. How's it working out for you?

This is what I carry most often, although the knife rotates between the WH shown below, PM2, Sage 1, GEC Charlow, or Northwoods Madison Barlow. And I seldom go anywhere without a Case Peanut somewhere on me as well.

And for the record there is NOT a lot of crime in the area where I live. But wolves are everywhere and in every country regardless of the laws. It makes no sense for only the criminals to be carrying.

Nice addition of the Montblanc. My current daily pen is a Pelikan M400.

CZ P01 and JYD II. The knife changes frequently but not the CZ.

Jac, I am in one of the FOUR states here in which one no longer needs a government permit to carry a concealed gun of my choice. (However, the permit...strangely...allows for more places to carry, such as into certain bars/restaurants, or nearer to school campuses.) Like knives, many of us have more than one gun, and as such, like to mix-it-up a bit. I don't really like this, from a training perspective, but the fact remains that many do so. I try to stick with point-n-pull trigger designs, and most frequently am either with a plastic Wunder-nine, or a .38 snubby as old as I am, LOL. Sometimes, both of them.

As to crime, it's not a matter of what area one is in, for things happen constantly in the most innocuous and innocent places. Witness 3 shot, and several injured at a nursing home and community center in a suburban neighborhood of Kansas today.

Folks, I have NO DOUBT that Francisco is not exaggerating here. I grew up amongst many immigrants from S. America, and there are similar traits in all the big cities. Rampant crime, corrupt police, and poverty. Anyone of average everyday 'means', by American standards, are most likely considered upper-class, or even wealthy by those living in and around squalor and violence, daily.

I have been seriously considering the "Build a Giptilian" option. Are you happy with it?
BTW the matching color grips look on the gun and knife look great!

Texas now permits carry of switchblades so I usually carry my Benchmade 2550 clipped to my right rear pocket.

A Ruger LCR usually lives in my right front pocket in either an Uncle Mike's #3 or a DeSantis Nemesis, depending on pocket size. Occasionally a Colt Commander or S&W M&P9c is holstered on my hip, OWB, but concealed. IWB once in a blue moon.

On the clock at the moment so nothing but a blade, a ZT 560.

Off the clock my conceal carry changes between a Springfield ZDm compact 45 and a XDs 45 in a Hidden Hybrid IWB holster. If I carry OWB its usually my SIG 229 in 9mm, which is by far one of the best firearms I have ever owned. Knife will vary depending on my mood but here lately it has been between a ZT 560bw, a ZT801, and a BM Contego.
