Damascus and Chocolate Mammoth Ivory D-Guard Bowie

Well, this baby's on it's way to Coop for a real photo session, but in the meantime, here's a quick photo from Paul Long showing the D-Guard in it's new P.L. clothes. That's prime Beaver-Butt in that insert, and look at the form-fitting "Papoose" for the take-down tool!

Wow, what a knife John, a true work. I have one piece of that ivory left that I'm saving for one of my JS knives, this knife is one to aspire to.

Wow. What a combo. So very well done guys. Can't wait to see Coop's photography.

Well, let's finish this thread off in style:

Here's Jim Cooper's "Sharp by Coop" photo magic worked on my first D-Guard Bowie--9 3/4 inch, six-bar Explosion Damascus, Chocolate Mammoth Ivory, Frame-handled Take-Down Bowie, backstopped by Paul Long's Custom Leather "Beaver-Butt" sheath, with Take-Down Tool "Papoose."

Wow - that photo brought out some exceptional handle contouring that I din't know was there - very sweet.

You can nicely feel that contour in the hand too.
Extremely nice Bowie and extremely nice photo.

THis one was especially gratifying to capture. I saw that swell in the previous photos, and knew that would look great. The D guard and the steel are incredibly captivating.

Paul's work elevates the package, and the little tool is just enough for a #10 cool factor.

Congrats!!! (Thanks John for the opportunity)

This shows what a great photo can do. Although the handle contours were slightly visible in the earlier pics, this pic brought out all those interesting details.

Great knife, great sheath and great pic. John must be real happy with this.

John it sure has been fun watching this one come together. It looked great in San Antonio but the final touches really set it off. Paul and Coop did their magic and now all I need to is to get that knife here in my hands. Thanks you so much for another outstanding knife.

I'm not a lover of D-guards. Let's face it, there are all things each of us prefer, don't like or are ambivalent about - I am the latter when it comes to D-guards. Until seeing this image by Coop, of this D-guard by John White, there had been only one D-guard that had ever captivated me (by Harvey Dean). This is only the second D-guard I can say that about.

John, it is a really gorgeous piece of work. I loved that mammoth when I first saw it, but until Coop hit it out of the ballpark with the image, I didn't realize how awesome this entire piece was. And with the Paul Long magic workin', too - Ten thumbs up!

John,
I like looking back on the beauties you have crafted and continue to craft. You've worked hard and you deserve it. It's a nice legacy. Lin
