Damascus billet

This got me thinking, and when I was out in the shop this afternoon, I looked around and found:
A four jaw 4" lathe chuck for a 3/4-16 spindle
A 3Ph gear reduction 3/4HP motor that runs 100RPM at full speed. The shaft is 3/4" .(I should be able to thread the .750" shaft and screw on the chuck)
A VFD to make make it run slower as well as forward and reverse.
An air vise.
A two pedal foot control (Fwd/Stop/Rev) to run the VFD.

I put them all in a crate to build a twisting machine someday. Some angle iron and two pieces of Unistrut should be all I need for the chassis.

You've got everything needed to make a nice setup. Photos as you go along. We all LOVE to follow your projects - you always have such neat projects :)

Yes, I will make a build thread when I do this project. It will be a good while before I get to it, though.

Glad I made mention of twisting lathes. It's cool you had the parts so accessible, Stacy. I look forward to your (eventual) build.
